Hello guys, does anyone have an idea or experience in changing the struts of the hullavator? Mine failed sadly.. Took struts off since it’s just screws on the hullavator nuts.. Any ideas what lbs rating of the strut you need to replace it with?

If any one gots pics of one done and replaced, I would appreciate it..

Struts broke and you disassembled from the arm assembly?

Or you disassembled from the arm assembly and broke the struts? If so, why did you remove them at all.

Thule does not offer replacement struts. You have to buy a replacement arm assembly.

If you are the original owner and the rack is anywhere near or just over the warranty coverage, Thule may send a replacement arm assembly. The trick is locating the customer service phone number to even ask.

The strut lost power/gas so it was easy to remove.. kinda like replacing the struts of an suv or hatchback window.. and no, not original owner.. bought it from old man who’s retired and left US to live somewhere in the south americas..

It’s ridiculous tho, yes I saw the replacement arm assembly, but I want to keep original parts so it doesn’t go scrap adding garbage somewhere..

Try searching the part number that’s usually how I find replacements.

You can try emailing Thule or calling, if you can find the phone number. Tell them the strut is broken but don't tell them you removed it. Maybe they will send you a new arm assembly.

Yeah kinda researched everywhere from google and the YouTube and even the manufacturer from Taiwan of the broken strut but nothing concrete.. even Thule themselves doesn’t know what the lbs rating are for their struts(per the forum I saw/read on another site)..

https://www.grainger.com/product/BANSBACH-EASYLIFT-Gas-Spring-6EYH6?breadcrumbCatId=25896&s_pp=false&picUrl=//static.grainger.com/rp/s/is/image/Grainger/6EXW1_AS01?$smthumb$

That’s the replacement I found so far but  not sure which lbs rating I need to buy..

All in all it’s actually an easy fix.. and probably will serve as a diy fix for everyone with non working Thule hullavators..

Replacing the whole arm assembly could be the last last resort..

pretty interesting.  they do look like hood support struts.  those are generally more of a measurement thing than a part number thing.

do the measurements match any of the struts on this website?

from what i understand, they are supposed to give 40lbs of lift support. that's what, 177llbs of newtons? so look for something like that, or possibly half that since there are two sets of struts each.
