Anyone here ever kayak from Willow Creek beach to Jade Cove? Don't even want to think about Tarzaning the path down to Jade Cove with equipment even though I know lots do.

That’s the preferred route for most of the underwater jade hunters. Otherwise they have to winch it up the cliff which is actually illegal.
But if you’re fishing or diving, no need to paddle all the way up to jade cove imo.

what is illegal about hauling your kayak up the cliff (at least the switch back trail side (southern) of jade). Northern cove would be hard because it's almost straight down. I have no idea how people do that with scuba gear.

I was refering to the idea of hauling 100+ lb jade deposits up the cliff...that’s a no no. It’s ok to use a winch to haul kayaks up a cliff. Or just carry the yaks up.
