13-14' kayak for spearfishing purposes (likely the Tarpon 140 or similar). So many different paddles with all different claims depending on the vendor or sales person. What do I look for or specific model recommendations? I am 5'10-180 and in good shape. Thanks everyone.

I have the tarpon 140 and it came with a Werner Camano bent shaft carbon paddle.

On one trip, I goofed and differ check to make sure the paddle sides were secure and on the way home I lost one of the sections. I had to buy another paddle but before then I used a few different standard paddles I had laying around. At first it’s not a big deal but if you’re paddling long enough you start to notice the advantages of having a good paddle. Huge difference in fatigue! I noticed that on a few longer trips I was pretty fatigued by days end. The lightweight make of the Camano was very noticeable. The bent shaft also made a difference for me but that wasn’t the selling point. For me was the weight.

I ended up getting the same paddle but in straight shaft.

I’m 6’ 175lbs and the 230cm is perfect for me.

Good luck!

Thank you. I looked at the Werner Camano and may get that.

I actually don't paddle enough to know what I should get, so basically I bought my latest stuff on a can't go wrong with this one idea, so I now have a Trident 13 and a Warner Camano paddle. I'm happy with both.

Love the paddle compared to anything I ever used before, I got it unbelievably cheap, a few years ago REI gave a $100 discount on them, and because it was a discount instead of a sale price it also went towards the annual rebate 10+% . I'm such a tightwad I'm not sure I ever would have paid retail for one.
