Going to try n catch a salmon or two. Both of us have never fished out of the area. I see launches in the Bodega Bay area, but is there one in Tomales Bay? Puts us closer to where we want to fish and closer to home by a few minutes as well.

I found Nicks out of Marshall....thx

You can launch at Lawson's Landing.  No ramp, its a sand launch so they will use a tractor to tow your boat and trailer to the water.
"Pedo Viejo" is what Antonio called me.

Are you talking kayak launch or boat launch?

The mouth of Tomales Bay can get VERY dangerous if the the tide, wind, swell, and shifting sand bars aren't lined up just right. Please be careful...

BOAT...yeah I read about the sand bar. I didn't realize that halibut season is off as of tomorrow so now we may go to Bodega. How about expected lines or cost at any of these launches? We r planning on being there at 6am or so.

California halibut (the type we catch) is open year round. You must be thinking of Pacific halibut (typically off shore in deep water, rarely targeted south of Eureka).

Ohhh, OK, I didn't know, good info. I had read that the Calif halibut was more rare to catch here, must have had it backwards in my head.

The word is that there is a hot bite for salmon outside bodega bay. I would expect it to be a very busy boat launch at 6am on a Saturday.....

There's the Nicks Cove boat launch as well. Not sure what kind of boat, but if you hit it at low tide be VERY careful getting to the channel as the launch can be very shallow and the eel grass matted.

Have to mention the mouth too, as you're heading out, make sure you stay in that deep water channel, it can get real shallow real quick up there. You're going to want to run almost against the left shoreline (west) on your way out to avoid the sand bar.
