SAN PABLO RESERVOIR FISH REPORT
May 6, 2013
The San Pablo Reservoir Recreation Area is open with the hours being 6:00 am to 7:30 pm and boats being off the water by 6:30 pm. The Boat Launch area is open 7 days a week with snacks and drinks available. Our last plant of Mt. Lassen Trout was on Tuesday April 30, 2013 with 1,080 lbs. of catchable Trout and 120 lbs. of trophy Trout and the DFG planted 1,600 lbs. of Trout on 5-4-13. The water temp has been around 70 degrees. The Trout bite has been good and were being caught from the shoreline near the Main Recreation Area the Pines and across the other side at Sandy Point, Graveyard Cove in Scow Canyon, and also from the shoreline at the Boat Launch area aswell . PowerBait for the Trout such as Rainbow, Chartreuse and Spring Green have been working as well as the Mice Tails and Nightcrawlers inflated, the Broken-Back Fire-Tiger, Panther Martins, and Clowns  seem to be working for those that are trolling. Bass have picked up with people using Drop-shots, and Top Water lures as well as Chatter Baits, Catfish have started biting on Night Crawlers, Anchovies and Shrimp out at the Boat Launch Shoreline Area.
TROUT
Jerry and Jesse of South San Francisco caught 15 trout trolling Rapalas by the Dam with their friend. The largest was 2.5 lbs 4-28-13
Lucy Anderson and her dad from Albany caught a 2.5 lb Trout using worms. 4-28-13
Bill Miller & Jim Stoker of Novato & San Rafael caught 10 Trout using MiceTails & Nightcrawlers at Sandy Beach on 4-29-13
Jeff Shia of Daly City caught 3 Trout with the largest weighing 4.5lbs. using PowerEggs in Raccoon Straits on 4-29-13
Shane Benedetti of San Bruno caught 5 Trout using a Pink Jig at the Main Rec. shoreline on 4-29-13
Joe Morales & friend of San Leandro caught 8 Trout with the largest weighing 5lbs. using Rainbow PowerBait at Oaks Point on 4-30-13
Alice Loo & partner caught 7 Trout using PowerBait at Pink Lady Cove on 5-4-13
CATFISH
Shahab Taghaui & Buddy of Richmond caught 6 Trout & a 4.10 lb. Catfish on 5-3-13
Daren Scorsur of Santa Clara caught this 7.5 lb. Catfish using a Rapala at the Boat Launch area on 5-4-13
CRAPPIE & BASS
Shane Benedetti of San Bruno caught a Bass and  25 Crappie using a Pink Jig at the Main Rec. shoreline on 4-29-13
Aaron Baba of El Sobrante caught 2 Bass largest weighing 5lbs. using a Kastmaster at the Tower & Round Top on 5-2-13
CARP
Juan Arroyo of San Pablo caught this 7.5lb. Carp using Green Pumkin Powerbait at the Pines on 5-2-13
Aleksandr Moliboga & wife of Concord caught this 22lb. Carp using Corn at Big Slide on 5-4-13

Thought I might see my name on that list today! I'm the guy who caught the 7.5 lb trout and 8 lb catfish on Sunday (both while trolling).

Wow...7.5 lb Trout...that's a monster!  Congrats on the great catch Alex.

Haha. A big, ugly, finless mutant monster. It fought like a little 2-lber cause it barely had any fin left! I'll see if I can get a picture up.

Also, full disclosure... This was a non-yak fish. I rented a boat so my Yak-less girlfriend and my buddy could fish, too.

Trolling a 1/4 oz gold Kastmaster with a 1/2 oz egg sinker about 4 feet in front.

thanks for the updates !!!   it is very good to see the crappie still swiming there....but DFG should lower the limit from 25 down to 5.....who needs 25crappie?
