Finally in the market to get a pedal kayak.

Slayer Propel LT.
The weight is the biggest factor that caught my eye but at the same time now sure if thermofoam is a good thing or a bad thing in terms of durability.

Pescador Pilot
The cheapest mofo (pedal) in the market

Wilderness ride PD
Always like the design of the seat (haven’t really sat on it).  Still not sure if 11.5 or 13.5.

Hobie Compass
Well... it’s a Hobie.

I found some used, some comes with extra goodies.  Only thing that will be new from that list would be the Slayer LT.  I know the common theme here is  demo demo demo but not sure where to demo those yaks.  Any thoughs?

Maybe the new Jackson is not for the ocean?

All I know (from their website) that has most of this is kayak city in stockton which is 53 miles away from me.  For now, the forum is a much better alternative.

No it's not.  What kayak any of us like may suck for you.  Nothing is a substitute for a demo ride.

Where I live, Wal-Mart is The Store on the coast and it's 56 miles away.  Driving fifty miles to find the right kayak is nothing.

Yes figure out how to try one before you buy one.  I have two hobies but heard great things about the wildernesses pedal drive.  I just canÂ’t recommend something I have not tried.

I'm a Hobie fan but have never tried any of those other pedal kayaks. If you do test drive some, I'd be interested to hear what you think of the different pedal yak brands.
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

Not sure where u live, but if you post on the forum stating your wish to test pedal "x" kayak, someone nearby with that model would offer, I bet. Might be closer than going to a dealer, although it may not be as informative... But would allow you to demo it nonetheless.

They have a Hurricane Propel that you may want to consider based on your list and price point:

I agree with everyone else, you need to try a couple. one note: the Wilderness systems yak is the Radar not the Ride.

Also keep in what kind what you are planning to do with your yak i.e. fish in lake, stream, or ocean. I would not recommend any yak under 13 feet for the ocean(this does not include Hobie).

Make your list of choices based on reading and research
You MUST demo. The butt check tells you which one is best.
What kind of fishing?? Your weight.
Yes money comes into equation but should not be deciding factor. May have to save some more to get right the first time
Yes pedal style are having lots of new models.
Still cant beat Trident 13 or Hobie Outback, Revo
DEMO DEMO

I am in Alameda.  Not sure what was going on my mind when I was registering putting “ninja zombie scientist “ as my location.

Got it!  So for ocean, the pilot, slayer lt & 11.5 radar wouldn’t cut it even though it is pedal and the compass can?  Please do share as I am new to yakin.  Than you.
