Martin and I met Dave at his house and we car pooled to Doran State Park to catch some Dungeness crabs,  The weather was "perfect" with almost no swell and a light breeze.  We caught lots of nice size Dungeness and also treated to a nice Sheriff's sea rescue exercise with Coast Guards boats and helicopter show.  Dave boiled the crabs at his house and we invited Jed who lives close by over for the crab feast with Martin's home brews.  Live is good!

It was a beautiful day at Doran(Blue Prowler crabbing south of you guys)...I picked-up a limit of Dungies with just one crab ring...Lotta work.but very rewarding..! ! !...Did you guys happen to see the forty foot Grey Whale swimming around the jetty entrance...? ? ?...It surface right behind my yak, turned around and this giant heads appears and looks at me,with an eye the size  of a huge grapefruit(twenty feet away)...I the followed it almost to the Coast Guard Station then turned back around and followed it back out into the ocean....Something I will "Never" forget...It was the size of a Greyhound bus....What a day..! ! !

Wow...what an experience!  No, I didn't see it but I thought I heard a loud noise like when the whale blowing water through its blow hole.  I turned the kayak around but didn't see it!  I was paying attention to the rescue practice "show"  :smt003

I bet Jed showed up more for Martin's beer than the crab.  :smt005

You guys do great hookups - well done!  It was really a treat to read the report and to see VHDave back on the water sporting his million dollar smile and doing what we all love so much.

You guys are cool.   :smt001

Wow Sonny, for me it was a choice between getting my new promars wet (nver yak crabbed yet) or trying out the Sherman Is area, just got lazy and went the Sherman, looks like I picked wrong,,,,,

As usual one of Sonny's great reports complete with pictorial.
