I’ve only used the hi/lo rig for ocean fishing but I’ve been told that the fish finder rig is also very effective. I’m just worried about bait being stuck towards the bottom in the later rig. Can anybody speak to the effectiveness and versatility or the two rigs?

I do a little of both. I’m usually out in the kayak for quite awhile so most of the time I’ll anchor down and watch some YouTube or something 😂

If you drift , I’d Carolina rig aka fish finder unless ur doing something unique like adding a float... anchored drop down rig aka hi/lol works just as good. It’s all in how ur fishing and bait ur using I’ve caught huge stripers just hooking a mud sucker between the eyes  with no weight anchored up in slow current.

Look at the NRS GigBob before you surrender to the Dark Side.  They're using the same technology used on Navy and Coast Guard inflatables and semi-inflatables.  About $200 more than that Sea Eagle junk, and they aren't disposables.

rogerdodger on the NWKA site has been chasing steelhead using a GigBob as a frugal drift boat.  Might want to check his posts.

But my first thought was also to save a handful of Benjamins and slap a trolling motor on that Mini-X.

Thank you! I'm going to try it out later tomorrow after class. I'll post up a report afterwards
