Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Doran Hali

Finally left the Sierra trout fishery and ventured into the ocean in a yak today for the first time.
Went to Doran with a long, long time friend and fishing buddy, Sledge.
Was fortunate to land a couple Halibut! Damn, what a rush!
I farmed a few more, but I will cut down on that in the future, heh.
Had a blast watching Sledge attempt to land a couple threshers, damn, they can get airborne! Maybe something more then 20lb leader next time?

Thanks to Sledge for putting me on the bite with what I needed to have a successful day and thanks to the whole of NCKA for having me be ready and comfortable from a “ Safety First” perspective.

Safety First / Kayak Tow Rope

Trying to get everything right before I hit the Big Blue. I have had my kayaks in the back yard for a couple weeks now. Built a trailer to haul them (somehow talked the wife into joining me in this adventure). Have read over this board and done everything / bought everything based on this boards comments and some google help. Down to a few last things...

Which Kayak Tow Rope should I have on board. Kokatat, NRS, North Water or a home made idea?

Yak’d up, geared up and ready to fish! Almost...

I’ve been nothing but a Sierra fisherman (no complaints, except it isn’t in my backyard), time to make a change.

On a whim…mid life crisis? Maybe. Who cares.
Why not Kayak Fishing?

Need to get off the concrete!

I have been spending an inordinate amount of time researching and this board has been
very helpful and I am sure it will continue to be. Safety First!

Plan on starting out this adventure with some surf launch and landing and self rescue training.

Will do my best to do it right…
