Sounds great. I'll be around Marshall as well. Will be fishing all day and loaded with oysters to eat later on. Should be a good time. See you out on the water.

Hello all,
I'll be camping and fishing tomorrow 7/1 into Sunday on Tomales Bay. Had the rest of my group bail so thought I'd extend an invitation to anyone that might want to join. Sorry for the last minute post. If there's anybody else that'll already be out there let's meet up. Cheers and happy 4th weekend.

Hojo,
What is the best way to acquire a few stickers? Thank you.

I heard it was quite busy over the weekend. Even saw an unusually high amount of boats out on Friday too. But it sounds like for most it wasn't too great. Tides are looking better coming up in a few days.

Dropped around 2 and was heading back in by 3. Efficient day.

My best crabbing outing ever. Tossed back anything under 6 1/2 inches. I've hit my peak. Makes up for my slow halibut season.

Got my limit in one hour after work today in Tomales. The crab gods smiled on me. Gave a few away to coworkers with plenty more to take home.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Tomales Crab

Was planning on dropping some hoops tomorrow after work in Tomales. Anybody have any luck there this year? I'll probably be dropping them around the Hog area. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Glad to hear some people had some success. I was thinking it might be a gloom and doom start to the season from the dialogue I was getting out there. Don't know if I'll do opening day again. 1 or 2 boats gave me some close calls and almost flipped me in their wake. Thought I'd be safe from that being inside the jetty but apparently that's not the case.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Slow crabbing at Doran
« on: November 05, 2022, 09:47:01 PM »
Pulled out two keepers at Doran today after scoring a last minute campsite a few days ago. Of all the other kayakers I talked to on the water and snare group from shore, not a single person had pulled up a Dungeness crab. Was told one tall tale from a guy that heard from another guy of a kayak crabber that pulled his limit on his first pull. Only people that had good numbers were people on boats going 100+ feet deep. Anybody else have luck out there?

I caught a keeper last weekend. Had been skunked or only catching shorties all summer before that though. My first try north of Hog is what gave me some luck.

I increased my leader from 20 lb to 40lb and added a bead chain swivel. Not a single tangle. Thanks for the advice fellas and happy fishing!

Thank you everybody. I feel like I just had a nice course on halibut. Hopefully I pass the quiz this weekend. :smt109

I also got some lucky craft 110 minnows I'm going to try out on the rig too if anybody is familiar using those for halibut. I haven't been able to catch anything for bait besides mondo smelt. The small chovies don't want to play it seems and frozen bait hasn't been working.

Thank you everyone. Luckily I have rigged up similar to the L shape and have some bead chain I can try out. I'll give that a try too. If anybody is out at Tomales soon, it seems a few more halibut are being caught, just not by me. Theres more bait and the water has been getting much warmer.
