Waves are big.  My yaks are stored at Venture Quest Kayak Rental. Racks beneath the wharf.  Dave Johnston there lets me keep a few for client trips.  He checked at 2pm, all was well.  He got a call from wharf workers at 3pm saying three boats were in the water.  All mine.  Fuck.  He was in his wetsuit and paddling for them by 3:30.  they were already past Rivermouth and heading downhill.  He alerted me, secured the rest of his boats and we chased the boats past the Harbor.  One recovered at 26th avenue by a little guy who insisted on "salvage rights"  I put the boat in my truckbed, and tod him I'd buy him lunch.  Seemed to work.  Meanwhile, I was tracking my utra 4.7 past Pleasure Point.  Zoomed back to the hook, and it was on the SAND!!!  RAn down touched it, and almost got a line on it before a big set came in.  Upside down and full of water, I just jumped clear.  Around the rock it went......

Now it's dark out, almost.  I checked Privates, then Capitola.  By then it was complete dark.

So one out of three so far.  Predator MX very little damage, one handle 3/4 broken.

Still missing 16-foot Ultra 4.7 Ocean Kayak Trident (that's the one I just missed grabbing) and another Old Town Predator MX, City Camo (black and white and grey).

l start early tomorrow morning at Privates and work my way down, I guess.  Anyone wnata help that would be so awesome.  I have vhf on 69 and phone # is 831-251-9732.  Checking Privates, Capptiola surfers reef area towards New Brighton and Seacliff area..

I've notified all the officials, mainly so they don't launch a search and rescue mission if they see a turtled waterlogged kayak out there.

I have some video but Im going to get a hot shower and food after this frantic afternoon/evening.

Send good thoughts.

Yikes, good luck with the recovery. Must be rough getting so close to rescuing the Ultra 4.7 and having it get away again.

that's the part that bothers me the most. Wreched the shit out of shoulder before I remembered to let go.  So close....1/2 of the clove hitch was tied...then I was down chest deep waiting for the backwash off the cliff and doing the rodeo clown dance to avoid getting bludgeoned by the yak...haha
