that was the 8th one you did? It'd have been impressive if it'd been your 800th!

I have always loved ice carvings for the very reason you mention, their impermanence.

those are wicked cool, literally!

Thanks Scotty, I don't think I could pull that off. Maybe a lone rockfish. It would most likely just come out looking like a bass.
Who knows. After an hour the details melt off and it will just look like a snake with fins. Lol

Thanks Antonio. I guess I always will be sloppy. Lol

Thank you bro! I only wish I got the dorsal fin right.
At first I was going for Salmon but changed my mind during the carving. Now I know how to get a shark out of the ice block.  Next time I will give it the iconic triangle shaped fin that I never want to see in real life. Lol

Notice the massive cracks in it. This happened as I passed the chainsaw blade thru the ice block. Lucky it held together

Pretty cool stuff!

Thanks! I do the Carvings in the bottom level of the parking structure on the casino grounds. It is the maintenance departments work shop. It very important that the ice blocks remain shaded from direct sunlight. The sunlight causes air pockets to form and then they inevitably shatter.
The blocks temper for about two hours and the Carvings take me 1 to 2 hours depending on if it's a design I am familiar with or one I haven't done before.
