General Talk / Re: Back surgery
« on: January 29, 2020, 01:18:45 PM »
I had a micro disc repair in 2015 for a bulging disc with arthritis as an added bonus. I would do it again if I had to. My major suggestion is to find a neurosurgeon to do the procedure. I can't help with referral as I had mine done at Swedish hospital in Seattle. I can only say that this surgery is one of the hardest for an ortho doc and nothing compared to brain surgery for a neuro doc.

For this very reason I had Yakpower leds and Berley Pro installed on my kayak. This video features my Washington Kayak. I have an identical here in California.

Good info. I'll be spending some day OTW in the great PNW where the water is colder and have been looking at drysuits. Thanks for the write up.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: Monterey Bay
« on: April 19, 2019, 11:55:47 AM »
I've been monitoring the sites you gave above. You are correct that the swells look great. The wind looks to be the x-factor. I'm not sure if I should go out or not. Sunday looks to have 4-5 hours of low wind.
Any advice would be great and if anyone is going out, please let me know. I'm not going out alone, unless I take a peddle on a local lake.

As a backup, I do have my Kokanee gear down here and could try that somewhere also.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Monterey Bay

I was originally planning on going up to Shelter Cove this weekend, but heard is was going to be blown out. I just checked Wind Alert for Monterey Bay and it look blown out also. 20+ winds with 30 mph gust. 10' swells. I was really hoping to get my new Outback on the water this weekend. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dan   :smt006

Congrats!  I look forward to paddling one of those hotrods at some point.

Bring it up to the Cove!  :smt001

You mean down, I am North of you now in WA.  Lol!
What part of Washington. I live in Lacey, but work in San Jose. I plan on fishing the week before Memorial Day and possibly that weekend. Salmon in the salt out of Illwaco or Westport.

Kayaks / Re: What is your primary fishing kayak? -UPDATED-

I just picked up my Hobie Outback on Tuesday. This is a video that West Coast Sailing did after they installed all of the upgrades that I had done to it. The YakPower lights was the final upgrade.

VOTED and looking forward to meeting everyone up there. I'll have my new Outback in about 4 weeks. I don't have many free weekends as I'm scheduled to umpire 31 weekends this year, but this one is now blocked off for fishing.

For Sale / Re: For Sale: OK Trident 13 and Prowler 13
« on: February 18, 2019, 07:08:47 PM »
I have a 15' at home in Washington that I need to unload along with a 12' Tetra. My new Outback is about ready for pick up and will be bringing it down here. I can bring the OK's down the end of March. Both where OK reps demos that were used a few times. 2016 models bought in 2017. Very, very light use. No drilling. Shoot me some reasonable offers and we can talk.

Hobie Kayaks / Re: Just picked up the 2019 Outback..👍
« on: February 18, 2019, 06:12:56 PM »
I pick mine up and transport it to Cali in 5 weeks. It will have the H-Bar already installed. I also had an 8" round hatch installed in the back where I'll store my 10Ah Nocqua batteries. One for my Lowrance Ti2 and the other for lights and backup power. Marine Mat will be installed by the time I pick it up. Once I get it here I'll finally become an active member down here.

General Talk / 2019 Hobie Outback
« on: January 15, 2019, 09:19:45 PM »
Hey all, I'm purchasing a 2019 Outback, adding the H-Bar support arm, and wondering what other Hobie accessories you would add. Mostly interested in ones that need to be installed verses those that strap on or go on a H rail. The dealer has accessories at 10% off plus will install them at no cost.
Thanks, Dan
