I was told there is a pretty big increase in weight (#90) as well as price $1599. It looked and sounded really good until I heard that. I still am curious to demo one though.
-
I cant wait to paddle one.
-
is it still a rod pod?
-
is it still a rod pod?
Yes. Double lid, double deep removable inserts so you can rod pos from your seat.
And yes transducer scupper is there, I fingered it.

The weight is up a bit. Now in line really with all the other kayaks in this class. The seat is super comfortable. The price point is up a bit but that's how it goes when you improve the features and the seat costs more. The rear hatch is new on the Tridents which is great to be able to store and access the rear of the kayak that you used to not be able to do. I paddled this one for awhile on Tuesday at Sly Park. I still don't care for a rudder on my kayak.

Trident 11 will be $1199 trident 13 will be $1299 and trident 15 will be $1499

I'm really getting tired of ALL these kayaks getting heavier and heavier. I'm sticking with my 16' kayak at 75 lbs. Now that I have 2 of those I'm set for a long time.

Any prostaffers out there know if they redesigned the scupper in the new tridents to fit different transducers? :smt006 Do you need to drill to run transducer cables or did they come up with a newer option. Would really like to know , thanks.
-
It paddles great! I'll have one at TRW to check out. Scupper for transducer is center mounted like the ultra was just not same configuration. The one we paddled was preproduction so may have a few changes for production. Hull in unchanged just a different top half.

For those of you interested please the attached specs and MSRP for the new Trident series.

Hmmmm that t13 looks tempting...i just cleaned the garage too so now I got extra space... :smt003

The seat in these Tridents is really comfortable. The enlarged back well is really cool and the new rea hatch lets you stow or access for mounting hardware. The rod pod feature is narrower than the older trident by around three inches. More leg space. A little heavier but in line with all kayaks in this class that are new.
-
Is the seat pan different? Another words, can you bolt the new seat onto the old trident?
-
Hah!!!! That's the first thing I looked at. I think that one of us could make something to adapt the new seat to the old Trident. Speaking of which. There is inventory of the older tridents but once they are gone, they are gone. When they go into production krusty, I'm going to buy just seat and try it. So Yes it is different. There is a flat spot up front that the seat rests on. Two mounted brackets that hold the different front height adjustments

The transducer scupper hole is now centered and moved up towards the bow a bit. It has a cord pocket and then a rectangular cover/mounting plate over it.
The transducer scupper was modified slightly to accommodate the Humminbird XNT 9 DI transducers (tear-drop shaped). No changes on the cable routing options – still need to drill to get the battery cable into the battery bag. They recommend a sealing grommet and here are a couple options:

Hope that helps
