Has anyone checked this sight out www.nativewatercraft.com ? I think they used to be Liquid Logic? Some of these boats look really interesting - the seat design is cool - accessory track system - tunnel hull design - ultra light Tegris material - they've been doin some thinking. No prices listed but Calif. Canoe & Kayak in Oakland is a dealer. Any thoughts?

For flatwater I thought the composite version of this would be cool yet a bit on the wide side @ 30". But nice and light @ 51#'s. Also very cool to be able to rig it as a solo or tandem.

Overall I think their SOT yaks are a bit on the heavy side but I like the openness of the yak/canoe hybrid concept.

Native is NOT Liquid Logic.  They do have the same parent company that also is the parent of Heritage Kayaks ... http://www.legacypaddlesports.info/.   I've given these a test paddle before.  The design is more canoe than kayak.  No scupper holes.  The seat is comfy, but I question whether it is sturdy enough and will last.

I believe the red/white boat is Native's Ultimate 14.5 Tandem model built with the lighter Tegris material.  It doesn't have scupper holes, but it does have a tunnel hull design that's ideal for flyfishermen who want to stand and cast from their boats.

Native Watercraft also has the Magic line of hybrid kayak/canoes with scupper holes.

Here's my review on the Magic 12:  http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,12942.0.html

I hope to demo and review the longer Magic 14.5 Tandem as well.

Beware of canoes........ANYTHING.......that has the canoe-shape.

1)  Higher gunnels.....make them a captive victim of any wind.
2)  If the paddler is anywhere but centered....they are a weathervane in wind.
3)  Canoes cannot take waves...once swept they are full.
4)  Canoes sink down to the rails.   Once "down" they usually stay "down" until   you can stand in the shallows & right them.
5)  If you fall in the water, the only boat that will blow away from you faster than a canoe, is a rubber raft.

SOTs are self-bailing.
This is a huge life-saving and hassle-saving virtue.
SOTs are very very good.
