Bonine isn't perfect, my dad's used it twice, both night before and on the drive out, and both times he was puking wholesale.  Works great for me most of the time.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Without a doubt Phenergan (promethazine) is the answer for me.

I tried everything and this is the ONLY drug that worked for me.

Scopace is the wonder drug for me.  With Scopace, I can even tie knots in big swells without feeling sick at all.

I tried Dramamine.  It didn't do a damn bit of good.  I tried Phenergan which worked well, but the codine mixed in my prescription made me sleepy.  Molbasser recommend heavy doses of caffeine to counteract the codine, but caffine is known to make seasickness worse.

Scopace (generic name: Scopolamine) is a prescription drug and comes in tablet and patch form.  One patch behind the ear works for up to 3 days and has to be applied the night before.  I like the tablet versions which is more versatile.  You take one tablet an hour or two before hitting the water and you can adjust the dosage for body weight and extra strength if needed.

I always take my 'cocktail' one hour before diving. One sudafed and 2 dramamine. When just fishing, I leave out the sudafed. It works for me. And this is coming from a guy who, if I do a somersault, am DONE IN for the rest of the day. Motion sickness big time. It sucks you have to experiment to find out what works best. It will help if you try not to look at the deck of your boat while tying a knot, dispatching a fish, etc. Keep your head up and hold your hands in front of your face while doing it if you can. If you feel that yucky feeling coming on, look at the horizon. This is by no means a cure, but it will help lessen the the chances of getting sick.

Hmm...I hadn't heard that.

I did very well in SD last month with 50mg of phenergan and 200mg of caffiene with another 100mg caffiene 5 hours into the trip.

I will do some checking on this.

The military prescribes promethazine with methamphetamine to counteract the depressive effects of promethazine.

Here are two guides to preventing seasickness.  Both discourage caffeine.

The bottom line is that not everyone reacts to seasick "remedies", so it's up to you to find what works best and is most practical for you.

Interesting that the first article claims that phenergan is OTC.....This has not been my experience, but something to look for.

Thanks.
