Gimme Shelter II
Early salmon season on the north coast.
I will probably be car camping but there are also small hotels nearby.
Can't wait to try for some big fat salmon again!!!!!

It was good fun last year, I'll be there for sure. Anyone up for run on that friday down the S.fork eel then head over to the coast 30 minutes away.

Here's some pics from last year:

If this it to become an annual thing, I am there again.  Last year was too fun even if the fishing was not so great.  I hope there is a salmon season this year or we may just be camping.  Do you want to carpool again Pat?

It's annual alright, so you're coming!   :smt003

I hope there is a salmon season this year or we may just be camping.

Good news:  there IS a salmon season because, to my knowledge, it opens at The Cove on February 16th regardless of what may happen later in the Spring when the Feds/others decide on a salmon season.  We also have some credible early intell:  Hawk heard that the salmon are jumping down there, as reported by some crab fishermen...  Oh yeah, Baby!   :smt001

Looks like all of last year's crew is in, plus the MADmanADAM!  Hopefully I'll have some early luck when I get down there between now and then and it'll entice some others to join us.

PK mentioned car camping, but I'm pretty set on splurging for an ocean-front room.  I'm into room-pooling, but not bed-pooling!   :smt005

Room does not sound too bad.  It is off season.  What kind of rate can we get?  The CG was near empty last year.

Here's the place I stayed last August for around $130, 2 queen beds, TV, deck over the beach.  Hopefully it's a little cheaper in the off-season...  The jacuzzi room would be nice - maybe if I bag a salmon!   :smt003

Man you are talking luxury.  I was thinking one step up from camping.  Let me know what you can find out about rates for this time of year?  $130 split is not a killer but I think we can do better.  Were you thinking Fri and Sat nights?

I'm going to pitch a tent at the same spot we were last year so we can kick it around a fire at night and have a man kitchen set-up. If you guys are in bed early watchin T.V I'm not coming.

I'm into coordinating some menus. It will be great to share a common meal after a day of not stop Salmon hook-ups. This is still a guys things right-no wives?

Hobie,

I've been on Usal road.

My 2 cents,

Don't even think about it in a 2wd that time of year,

Go the long way around.
