New Avet SX 5.1 reels are currently on sale for only $149 - all colors!
The new model has the egg-shaped rubberized handles and more pronounced clicker button. (older models pictured here)



That's a killer deal considering they retail for $175 to $179 everywhere else.  Mike isn't allowed to advertise that price on the web, but I am.  His shop isn't that big, but it's one awesome candy store with good prices.  I went there for the first time last week.

FYI... if you're looking for the ultimate super-light yet powerful combo, consider matching that Avet SX 5.1 with a Shimano Trevala (30-80 lb braid rating).  I love mine and here's a little secret --- some of the veteran fish slayers on this board using the same exact rod/reel combo..... include Freddie, Stuart, Fuzz, Mooch, and Bill.

Really love the weight of the avet / trevala combo......you can EASILY jig an 8 ounce iron all day  I really think this combo shines in places like Bean Hollow 

(and I'm really thankfull that they made 'em in lefty's  )

Damn!  Guess theres no time to think it over anymore.  Mike told me the other day he was running this price till mid Aug., I never suspected the word would spread so fast!

I have a black SX 2 -speed matched with the medium Trevala stick and 20 pound test. It's my current go-to combo. I've been looking into getting the heavier Trevala rod. It feels flimsy but holds up very well with fish and weights on the line.

I asked the same question.  Mike said they just had too many in stock.  I learned the sale extends to all Avet models they have including the new 2-speed Avets.
