Does anyone have a recommendation for a rod holder that will fit the slightly larger butt of the Ugly Stik Tiger rods?  I don't do enough halibut/sturgeon/salt fishing (yet) to spring for the more expensive rods (yet) and the Tiger is great for the price, but it doesn't fit in the Yak Attack Omega that I mostly use.  I searched and couldn't find this question answered, hopefully it's not a repeat.  Help?

I have the same problem with my ugly stick rods. I ended up using an Atwood from Walmart. It’s big enough and has a base like the Scotty mount. The problem is it’s not compatible with the Scotty mount. I’m pretty sure this is the one.

I like the Scotty rodmaster 2 for the oversized rods.

I had the same rod and same problem with the Scotty baitcaster RH.  What I did and this is not recommended is I shaved down the butt about 2 mm of the rod to fit. Not a great solution since the rod w/conventional reel felt off balance, anyway.  I switched to the Scotty rocket launchers and have been pretty happy w the new setup.

Folbe!!!!!

Get a Folbe Advantage rod holder.

(Before I got the Folbe, I had a Scotty Powerlock that held my Ugly Stick rod too snug. I ended up removing to “Powerlock” mechanism and using a rasp the wider the opening. It worked, but the Folbe is MUCH better in my opinion.)

My Ugly Stick is my backup/spare rod now, but it fits great in the Folbe when I do use it.

Completely forgot I posted this, thanks for all the great replies!  Love the price on the Atwood but my Sea Ghost is all set up for Scott so I'll look into the Rocket Launcher.  I did think about shaving down the butt or trying to bend the Omega a little bit, but it felt like even if I got it to fit it would be too hard to get the rod out quickly, especially with the rubber butt cap.  It's already a struggle swinging that thing around with a big 'ole Penn 209 on there.

Check out the Scotty Orca, which is similar to the Folbe Advantage.  It's a clamshell design which releases straight up, which has advantages if a big fish is putting tension on your fishing line while the rod is in its holder.
