The details:  2014 OK Trident 13, Lowrance Elite 3X fish finder.

I want to mount the transucer through the scupper.  It's one of the reasons i bought the T13.  I'm not willing to pay $40 for the scupper mount kit sold by Lowrance.  After all i only paid $100 for the fish finder.  I've read many threads and i know the various methods people are using.  So what if i try this:  I'm thinking about using silicone or some kind of adhesive to glue the TOP of the transducer to the BOTTOM of the hull in the special scupper made for this.  Will it work?

 Your idea would probably work as long as nothing hit the transducer, but gluing things to polyethylene is questionable as far as longterm adhesion goes.

I'm not sure what transducer setup you have, but on my T13 the original FF transducer had a mounting hole in it.  I ran a bungee thru that hole and tied it in a loop.   Then to get the thing mounted in the transducer scupper I ran the plug up thru the scupper, then the loop up thru the scupper and hooked the loop over something (I don't remember exactly what).

As the bungee pulled the transducer up tight it actually sat level in the hole and as the bungee was stretchable it gave the transducer some flexibility when it occasionally got whacked.  And was removable as needed.

Later on I bought a transducer designed for that location.

I've used this stuff on plastics and it holds great.  Should also work on a kayak I would think;

Read the reviews and see if you think it might work for your application.

2 part epoxy should work. Or just buy the kit. You are probably gonna do it eventually because all these jimmy rigged fixes won't last. Let us know how it woeks out.
I only fish on days that end with Y

Thanks for the info, but when I got home and looked I decided to go with the usual inside the hull method.  Already done.

I went out yesterday to the Port of Sacramento.  My fish finder looked like it was working properly but i didn't see many fish arches.  I did finally see some but they didn't look like what i was expecting.   They were just thin black arches.  Maybe i need to zoom or change some setting to see the arches better.  I was in 40 feet of water.  I think the transducer in the hull works.

Another thing i didn't like was how far the unit was from where i was sitting.  In my T-13 I installed the fish finder in the spot designed for it.  In order to change the settings i have to scoot my butt onto my mod pod to reach it.  Has anyone installed their fish finder on the mod pod?

there are youtube videos on how to enhance the fish arches.  As far as mounting location, it's an exercise to be performed in the garage as well in the field.  Perhaps there are rigging videos for your kayak and fish finders on youtube as well?

I played with my setting using a downrigger weight under the kayak as my target, then moved to smaller items like lures.  It gave me confidence on the finder's ability to see small objects and also, how large a 'cone' or area of coverage a various depths.

BTW, how was the port?   Hook up anything?

I got one bite at the port but it got away.  I think it was huge.  The port isn't too good lately.  It was going off a couple weeks ago.
