After taking going to lake Sonoma on Sunday for self imposed capsizing... when I got back to shore and beached my yak..  I noticed I scratched the transducer a little....which brings me to this question.... those of us that have the OK`s  with the scupper mount option  and use it... do you have it rigged to remove it when not OTW ..and if so how did you do this... Thanks VK

Mine is always mounted and I have yet to scratch it, and I always beach or ramp land when coming in.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Transducers are quite robust.  A little scratching to the face isn't the end of the world since the mechanics of it are housed inside of an epoxy filled, plastic housing.  Pretty darn hard to destroy one physically.

I've never had a problem, it's take a pretty good beating.

I built my own scupper mount for my OK Big Game out of a stainless bolt, parts from an old cutting board, and a few stoppers that I pilfered from my beer making equipment. Nothing fancy, bit it holds well and does the job. It unscrews easily with a simple wingnut so I generally remove it when its off the water.

Oh man, I like that- it's actually got adjustable compression. Where'd you cannabalize that stainless threaded rod and nut from?

For what was a spur of the moment build, its worked perfectly and I've been really happy with it. Easy to install and remove, and I'm moderately careful launching and landing so I haven't banged it up yet. The bolt was actually the only thing that I purchased for the build. Its just a 1/4-20 x 6.5" stainless hex bolt but you'd just adjust the length of the bolt based on the depth of your specific scupper hole. I think it cost about a buck at Home Depot. I just appened to have the rest of the parts lying around, but I'd guess that you could buy everything for $12 or so.

Very nice set up. If you ever do decide to just leave it mounted all the time. Switch that wing nut to a hex nut. Then a toilet bolt cover will fit on top.
