What’s so magic about the number 30, other than it is higher than 10?  Some day 10 round mags will be called high capacity (some are already calling them that).  Then what?

So many triggered NRA snowflakes in this thread

Not sure if you’re serious since everyone thinks they’re a comedian in this thread, but LMFAO if you honestly think it’s the NRA crowd that are the “snowflakes”.

I think that "snowflake" is a ridiculous term that everyone distorts to mean what they want it to mean. That said, by my own definition of the word (people who are too easily offended over nothing), NRA people are just as snowflakey as the people they accuse to be snowflakes.

On a personal level, I think NRA people are being intentionally stupid and intentionally making their opposing idealogy stupid and therefore making themselves look stupid.

I think that Gun Control people are being intentionally stupid and intentionally making their opposing idealogy stupid and therefore making themselves look stupid.

So I think you're all stupid and should try not being stupid sometimes and talking like a smart person once in a while.

I say, hypocritically, while being an stupid asshole to fan the flames on this thread.

The second amendment had nothing to do with hunting, and yes it doesn't mention high capacity magazines, but the founders stated in their other writings that the purpose of the 2A was to give the colonists the ability to defend themselves against aggression from standing armies, and from oppression of a tyrannical government.(They wern't talking about deer rifles, and shotguns, they meant the rifle of the day) As a veteran, I damn well believe we should be able to own anything that would deter an army, our own or a foreign one from just waltzing in and taking over. As for giving up a little bit of our rights for the good of society...that's poppycock. Pretty soon your giving up  a little here, a little there, and pretty soon you don't have jack. It never ceases to amaze me how people are eager to give up their rights. The American people today, are just a shadow of the people who payed for this country in blood, sweat and tears over the last 200 years. We have had it way to good for too long, and the  last generation who realized this is all but gone. When they are all passed, we will have lost all memory of how quick things can change in this country. One day, things will happen and people will wake up and be powerless to do anything. Less than 6 percent of the population has ever served in the military and fewer yet in combat. As a combat vet, I know who will be the ones to deal with things once that day comes and no matter what laws are passed the ability to even the playing field will never be given up. Until that day comes.....FISH ON!!!

PS...

As for 30 round magazines...this I say to anyone who doesn't think we should be able to own them. The state speed limit in the balance of the California is usually 65 or 70 mph, yet cars and motorcycles that do a 100 mph, and some yet that will exceed 180 to 200mph are sold everyday. How ridiculous is that? If we are worried about safety, and the good of society lets start banning cars and motorcycles that exceed the speed limit! They kill far more people every year than all gun crimes in the last decade. I mean, most car owners are responsible and drive according to the law, but I mean were talking about the good of society here so lets do the right thing and ban all vehicles that can exceed the speed limit, in fact how about 55 and stay alive?  Sucks now when its your ox getting gored huh?
I leave you with this:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Someday they will come for everyone, history proves this, and you will wish you had clung to every right afforded to you by God and the Constitution. Peace out:)

First. The constitution, marvelous as it is, is not immutable. In order to get the slave holding states to join a union it allowed for slavery. Eventually this compromise led to 600 thousand American deaths. The right for women to vote was not in the original constitution but societal pressure changed that. Other amendments for other reasons were also added to meet certain needs. The second amendment in the future, may very well be  reinterpreted as primarily affirming gun rights to militias. The same reasoning applies  to "rights" given by God. Consider the changes in thought about human rights from the Old Testament to the New and the understanding of rights of first century New Testament thought to twenty first century thought. I believe you quoted Dietrich Bonhoffer or one of the other WW2 German theologians with regard to resisting governmental evil. Comparing  resisting the evil of the  Nazis to giving up the freedom of having as much ammo capacity as one wishes  is like comparing a sand grain to a mountain.
Second. I see no way that a populace armed with guns is going to overthrow a foreign nation or our own government should we feel endangered. We would need missiles/planes/bombs etc. as well as the training to use it. Not going to happen except in the movies.
I don't get your analogy about 30 round capacity and cars that can go 100 miles over the speed limit. Yeah, vehicles can go faster than the speed limit but one gets a ticket for it. Speed limits, traffic lights, all make driving safer even if not always followed. Laws do limit freedom. It's the only way we can live without chaos. How do you feel about bump stocks that change a semi automatic to fully automatic? Does that take away from your freedom? And if it does is it worth it for societies sake?

Most of us really don't think NRA members are snowflakes.  We're sure it's been proven you're all Russian toadys...

This never had anything to do with guns when first written but gun-rights people latch onto it like it's more than intellectual pablum.  You said you're a veteran - and thank you for your service - and so, too, am I.  Did you ever fire the military version in combat?  If so, how could you possibly believe that you, or you and all your neighbors, or you and a thousand others carrying your semi-automatic toy weapons could so much as make folks late for lunch?

The law will be re-written to get around this judge's objections and the next version will stick because the Constitution also allows that.

What ever happened to just keeping 'yer mouth shut when it comes to what one owns or doesn't own?  If I think I need guns to protect me from a government, my own or an invading force, law doesn't enter into it and I will arm up.  When the day comes that my fear is realized, I don't think I'm gonna have to worry about the constitutional right being an issue.

(and don't worry about comin' a lookin' for any here, no one is gonna find them)

Apparently you do not know what bump stock is. For the record I think they are stupid anyway. Just pointing out that a bumpstock is far from making a rifle an automatic. It just lets the rate of fire increase some. If you see a fully auto and bump stock fired side by side you would get it.
