The group parking area looks pretty big. And it's right ON the water, across from the launch ramp.

It is a little hard to access the water from that side in that area.

Alright folks, here's the rundown from the state park staff.  (The woman I spoke to was real nice, so if she happens to work the kiosk someone should invite her over  :smt003)

We have Saturday night reserved for both Campsite A and B. We are technically allowed to take the spots at 2PM; however, if no one is occupying the group sites the night before, we can use them as early as we want on the morning of 2/10.  If there is someone occupying the group sites, then they are allowed until 12pm.  The lady said it is unlikely the group sites would be taken this time of year though.

Within the actual campsites, tents only are allowed.  No vehicles.  However, self enclosed RVs are allowed to park in the group parking area as long as they are used for sleeping only - meaning no pop-outs, awnings, etc.  We are allowed a total of 8 vehicles each group campsite, so that means 16 total group parking spots. Each additional vehicle will cost $8.  I'm not going to be in charge of who gets to pay $8 and who is included in our group site, so just be aware of that.  Of course if you have a state parks pass then you can get in free anyways, and some of you may have those.

If anyone is interested in staying the night before, 2/9, let me know. If we can get enough people willing to split the cost then we may be able to reserve one of the group sites for 2/9.  I'll be arriving that day sometime-ish and staying til Sunday in one of the cabins.  The cabins are relatively cheap at $60 a night, but you can't cook in them and they have a max occupancy of 4 per cabin, with each cabin having 1 set of full size bunk beds.  IF you're interested in getting your own campsite, feel free to do so.  You can reserve at reservecalifornia.com and they're the Kelsey Creek part of the campground - some of them look like they have lakeside access.  Just be aware there are raccoons in the area that like to attack minnow buckets.

What happens if you can't make it?

Per the rules, there will be a prize for each of the top three juniors, and we will have an additional award for the JDOTY and JAOTY.

If you are not there someone from the AOTY/DOTY committee will hold onto the prize for you and get it you at a future date.

Same with anyone who wins a plaque/print/trophy etc...

Besides the trophies and the top three, the prizes will be laid out on a prize table...we will call the names in order of who won for people to come up and get their prizes...if you are not there you don't get to pick a prize...so it's good to be there!!

I just sent a PM to all DOTY players with the following:

Quote
The Awards ceremony will be on 2/10 at Clearlake State Park in Group Camp Sites A and B.

Details and discussion here:

http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=82416.0

Awards will prolly start around 3ish...

We will have a keg, and are working on getting a pig.

The group sites sleep up to 80 people so feel free to spend the night. More details on camping in the thread above.

I am working with sponsors to make sure all trophies, plaques, prints and prizes will be there.

There will be:

-A Piscean plaque and Kraken 13.5 for Adam

-A custom Amadeo print and Orion 85 for Deke

-A custom Amadeo print and HydroKaddy for Matt

-Big fish awards for Adam, Deke, Matt, DG, Ryan, Derek and me

-An award for our Junior Diver Of The Year, JosiahVentura808

-A prize for the top three juniors per rules.

-Prizes for the prize table donated from Red Triangle Spearfishing, Kayak Connection, Pacific Nalu Spearfishing, ReefReaper Spearfishing, Austin's Diving Center and Austin Derry Photography

-The participation raffle prize from Wilderness Systems of a Tarpon 120...each paid player gets one ticket for paying the reg fee, and then one more ticket for each species caught or shot in AOTY and DOTY...it's time for a diver to win it!!  :smt003

This should be a really fun time in a pretty location so hope you can make it. Family and friends are of course welcome also.

If you have any questions, post in the thread above or just PM me.

Thank you!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Hope that helps!!
