That is just depressing  :smt010

On a happy note, "birds, bait and fish slashing the surface" spotted 5 miles out of Santa Cruz...

Hope this is a good omen...

Soupfin Shark and Spiny Dogfish

The recreational fisheries for soupfin shark (Galeorhinus zyopterus) and spiny dogfish (Squalus acanthias) in San Francisco Bay are open year-round for divers and shore-based anglers only. Bag and possession limit for soupfin sharks is one fish with no minimum size limit. The daily bag and possession limit for spiny dogfish is ten fish with no minimum size limit. Click here for a summary of 2005 Recreational Groundfish Regulations.

The recreational fisheries for soupfin shark and spiny dogfish are closed to boat-based anglers from January 1 through June 30, 2005. When the fisheries reopen on July 1, cabezon may only be taken or possessed in waters less than 120 feet (20 fathoms) deep.

I like how they cut and pasted the section from cabezon to the shark section and left 'cabezon' in one of the sentences.  Soupfin and dogfish migrate through the bay in the spring, what a coinkiedink!
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.
