It has been a busy first three months of the year, but I have still been able to sneak out and get in some diving here and there off my Kraken 13.5, from shore, and even once from my buddy Jeff's boat.

While I haven't gotten out as much as I would have liked, I have had some pretty awesome adventures and brought home some quality fish for the family.

Dive partners have included fuzz, lorikay2, hotplate, Bryan the oneeyeddrunkenpirate, and my buddy Matt who is here from Florida going to NPS in Monterey.

Here is a quick vid showing some of the fish and fun...fish in vid include Lingcod up to 35 inches, Reds to 23+ inches, my personal best Black at 21.5 inches, and multiple fat Cabezon up to 23 inches...

Thanks for looking!!

Sincerely,

Jim

Lots of great fish.  Hopefully you get into some Halibut and stripers to mix it up.

Wow! You're racking up nice stringers and, even better, stories and pics to go with them! I tried to get T-Slaya (mtitch12) to lock down some of those perfect dive conditions for my return from NZ, but looks like I'll just have to look at your amazing photos and drool for another week or so!
Love that stringer of fat ass cabs! Don't think I've ever seen three big ones on one dive or even on one stringer! Nice work!
Good luck to everyone who's doing the DOTY this year; wish you all good stringers and save dives! Thought for everyone- as always, let's keep an eye on friends and strangers alike out there in the briny deep so all this year's dive adventures have happy endings!

Yeah and the shot of that massive ling just lying on the bottom out in the open is epic! What we all dream of right?!

Oh and for the guy asking what lings look like underwater, probably most of Big Jim's great videos work. But this particular one, at the 56 second mark, is really excellent at showing what probably many of us have swum right past: a huge ling just lying totally still right out in the open. Easy to get so preoccupied by looking under rocks that we forget to just take in the whole open water scene first.

Yeah exactly freeze it right on 56 second mark. If you can easily spot the giant ling you're getting closer to the Big Jim awareness level. If it blends in for you, then you're more like the rest of us mortals who probably swim right over some lunkers.
