Well spring break has begun although someone forgot to tell mother nature.  I took my 2 1/2 year old out to the Pacifica Pier in hopes of getting a couple of dungies.  Dropped a crab pot and used a snare rig.  The crab pot managed one undersized dungie   :smt009 . The snare got 4 rock crabs C/R and 1 legal Dungie.  The dungy had some barnicals and didn't look to great but I guess he will work for an apetizer!

Any reports of Salmon caught off the Pier? I know it's early but you'll never know.

I read a report of Salmon being caught off Montara Beach - by the PB's.
I miss being able to drive to Pacifica.....don't know when Devil's Slide will be re-open again...I hope it happens before the Salmon start showing up at Linda Mar.....the only reason I moved down to the coast from San Mateo was to be closer to the Salmon  :smt011

Jason - keep an eye on the bait balls -if they are in, you can see 'em from the hill on the South side  :smt002

Mooch,

To be honest I didn't see anyone fishing for salmon on the pier. Definately too early for the pier at this point.  However I didn't see any bait ball either.  I did see many shore fisherman the last two days and that always sparks my interest for stripers. My guess is they were going for perch but they were in striper territory.

As for HWY 1  I don't know when it will open either my guess is they should be hauling tail to get it done, however rumors have said it may not open until 2011.  I hope not. You will have a lot of commuting to do over the summer.

John....you must "high" to be able to launch out off Montara  :smoke Shore break too big for the mooch to handle.  :smt118 But If I get desperate enough (and I had rod storage on my yak) I'd give it a shot  :smt002

I heard it will be open around 2011.............

I think your thinking about the Tunnel being completed...as far as Devil's Slide - it should be sooner than 2011....I hope!

I heard they may keep it closed until the tunnel is open. My guess is it is a rumor and the slide will be open around May.

Do you know how far out he ventured. I saw him launch, he had a crab pot too. Did you get any crab?

I didnt see him go too far out, he was within paddling distance. He said the bait started right outside the south point and was real thick. Im hoping that if the water stays calm and the bait stays the fish will come in. So far I havent seen or herd of any salmon coming out of Linda Mar and the one time I tried I didnt get anything. I got a few crabs nothing real exciting but dinner.
