General Talk / Lectric Bikes
« on: September 26, 2019, 06:23:06 PM »
Tote turned me on to these “Lectric Bikes “. Ordered two approximately six weeks ago and received today. I have bugs in my teeth from grinning ear to ear while riding in the business park. ! Awesome bikes !!!  Factory settings limit them to 20 mph and you can change the settings to 28+ but that won’t be necessary ...as that’s fast enough. They fit perfectly on the new van hitch platform:..

If you include a special code while ordering the saddle bags are included.

ps...perfect for scouting for pigs at Lake Sonoma

For Sale / Kayak/Hauler For Sale price drop now $500
« on: September 24, 2019, 03:16:25 PM »
Bought this from another NCKAer years ago and have been using it as in indoor kayak rack. Holds four kayaks and a ton of gear. Tows great as it has an actual trailer axle. Not sure the license plate belongs to it but it’s a permanent plate. I’ve never registered the trailer either. Lights need re-wiring ....other than that it’s fully functional. Spare tire included..

« on: April 10, 2018, 08:07:10 AM »
For Sale. 2017 Hobie Revo 13...Papaya color.
I want to keep the 180 drive and have a brand new V-2 drive that will go with the kayak.
This kayak is basically unused...includes sailing rudder and a couple Hobie tracks. No paddle.

It will take a few days if someone actually wants to see  pictures of the kayak as it's stored up in my pallet racks at work. We all know what one looks like...right?

$ 1900

Located in Cotati, Sonoma County

Wanted To Buy / Hobie Revos Wanted.....
« on: November 03, 2017, 06:49:48 PM »
A twenty plus year long friend lost his home, all his toys, and three Hobie Revos (vaporized) in the recent Sonoma County fires. He and his sons are mostly  duck hunters along with some fishing  and are looking to replace their kayaks. Being a duck hunter he prefers the old style seat that can be unhooked to allow he and his sons to lay back to hunt/shoot.

He is looking for three Olive/Dune kayaks with the non Vantage seats to replace their fleet. If anyone has an older model Hobie Revo they want to part with....lemme know, Thanks

Safety First / Tick Bites...
« on: February 27, 2017, 04:51:31 PM »
For all you hunters, gatherers, etc...

Tomorrow I'm getting antibiotics for an embedded tick bite as I cannot be sure of when it bit me. We check ourselves constantly ...this one never even gave me a hint of an itch. If it was Friday ...I exceeded the 36 hour window. If it was later it would be no problem. Plus, if you are not careful when removing the tick you might actually squeeze the infection through the tick like a syringe and infect yourself. I'm not taking the chance...getting the antibiotic ..... :smt012

Here is a great site for tick bites....

General Talk / Here is one for all you cyber sleuths ...mystery balloon
« on: August 24, 2016, 01:59:39 PM »
HOLY TOLEDO turned this site on to me months ago.

https://www.flightradar24.com/ANA7/ac8225d

Every now and then I check out what's in the air around us, how long certain flights take, and basically goofing off at my desk.

Last week I picked up a balloon cruising (usually 3 to 7 knots) around off our coast. The altitude is always around 62,000 feet. Over the past week I have been checking out the balloon's progress...going nowhere slow. Curiosity has got the best of me and now I have been trying to figure out what the heck it's doing out there. Online I  researched NOAA, NASA, etc...no info. If anyone else is curious (bored at their desk) ....see what you can find out.

The balloon is currently west of S.F.  The only info I have is from the Flightradar site. Balloon HBAL13 with a Mode S code BA1175

I need to go Fishing!!!!

Have Fun, I have :smt003

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Fish Finder Follies
« on: August 08, 2016, 01:14:48 PM »
Sunday morning I awoke at a bit after 2 am and remembered my fish finder/sonar battery was completely dead as it had left it on at Albion over night. We were to fish at Tomales and I wasn't about to go out there with gps. Yeah, I have done it before with just a compass but...why take chances.

Raced to the shop and plugged the battery onto the charger. Knowing I would only have about a two hour charge I decided to change to an older black and white unit as opposed to my color Dragonfly. Swapped out transducers and loaded the kayaks in prep for HT's arrival.

At Tomales while gearing up I noticed I forgot the little coupler that links the FF to the 1 inch ramp ball. No problem...nothing a little hvac tape wouldn't fix. In my rush to attach the wires to the battery I snapped off one of the battery post flush with the top. No problem, borrowed a screwdriver from PSherman and sank a screw into the battery right alongside the broken post. Then stripped out the FF wire and taped it to the screw. Everything worked like a charm all day.

The battery is repairable ...I'll just insert a short flat head screw and wrap a wire around it then liquid tape the whole mess. It'll last a few more years...haha

Fishing Pics / Lake Sonoma Don Clausen Hatchery 3/6/2016
« on: March 06, 2016, 04:44:02 PM »
Was up setting trail cameras at Lake Sonoma today and went by the hatchery to see how the counts were fairing. Turns out they already have 3,279 fish as of a week ago. That's  1000 more steelhead in the system then all of last year. The hatchery people tell me (and I saw) hundreds more steelhead in the system leading to the holding ponds. They expect 600 more each week until the run is done.

The steelhead are in far better shape and much larger than the ones I viewed last year. Maybe the fish stayed out of the river last year due to poor water quality. Hopefully the salmon on the bigger rivers did the same and they are out there swimming around until next year...hopefully.

Wish I hadn't zoom'd in on  the shots as my poor ol Optio just doesn't have the clarity....

Includes every thing the factory included. 16' sail, dagger board, turbo fins, paddle, seat etc. We upgraded to the large "Shark Fin" rudder for better performance. Given a ten minute tutorial you could be sailing this to it's full potential first time out.
