Is there a web site we can browse through? to look at gear an such?
-
No. It's mostly walk in/brick & mortar sales here in Santa Rosa.
-
Please go in and support the good folk at Wind Toys. The owner always has time to spend helping a complete newb figure it out.

I think John set up a Facebook page for windtoys.

he does have a facebook... nothing on there currently, but the page is up. Wind Toys Water Sports Center... it would be cool if we could get John a bunch of likes. I have bought 2 outbacks from him, great guy.

Wind toys has a website now.

Wind toys is funny about their NCKA discount now. I was up there recently and I brought it up and he did not give it, but then he gave me one for being anyway. He seemed a little grumpy towards NCKA, I am not sure if something had happened or what.
-
^ What was it you purchased?
-
Squidder, my bet would be that you blindsided him with it. I have mentioned it before... He has told me that he gets virtually no business from NCKA memebers. I understand that, there are just so few of us up here above the bay area. I have purchased both my outbacks there, and he always hooks me up with discounts, and even some free parts and what not.

I ordered turbo fins on Tuesday and got them the next day. Got the 10% off too. Fast service.

I don't know if he's grumpy towards members,I think he's just moody.I bought my first pa from him and then went back and bought a trailer.the first time I bought accessories from him he gave me a discount.second time he didn't.never mentioned to him I was ncka.he was suppose to give me a discount because of the big purchases.I think his mood reflects on how much stuff he has going on

Is there a link to Windtoys now?

I refuse to buy anything at full retail. I work in sales and I am familiar with the mark ups. 10% off is only a gesture.

I am in sales as well, but don't claim to familiar with the markups of every industry... what do you sell? Hobie products seem to be pretty well MAP priced as they are pretty much the same everywhere you go.

Good to hear that John is giving discounts. I got my kayaks from him 5 years ago. I have also bought a bunch of accessories from him as well as getting warrenty stuff done over the phone.

I sell door hardware. I understand many manufacturers set their prices for the retailers but it doesn't change the fact that I do not ever pay retail.
When I was shopping for a kayak I got a price from the local shop and one from an online dealer. The online dealer was in Oregon so there was no sales tax and free shipping. My savings was going to be over a hundred dollars. If the local shop had offered to throw in a cheap paddle to sweeten the deal I would have gone for it.
Lucky for me I found one almost brand new on Craig's List and saved over $400.

I'm super stoked to let everybody know that WINDTOYS is now going to be a Jackson Kayak Dealer.
John (owner) and his crew (Marty and Andy) are very excited about carrying the JK brand.
Their main store is in Santa Rosa but they just opened up a new store in Sausalito.
They should have their first shipment of JK kayaks sometime next week.
