How close are these campsites to the bar? Paddling distance or no?

 :smt006

I think it is a good paddle. Ask TexasBoy he went from Lawsons to Hog Island when he camped there.

Jim, Nick's Cove (bar)  is about 1.4 miles across the bay. Easy paddle in daylight... dead drunk at night in cold, possibly windy water... maybe not so great.  Drinking off an AI barge would be safer.
When I have been part of campouts on Tomales, it just becomes necessary for someone to take a bigger boat to the campsite to schlep equipment, potty buckets, water, firewood and maybe run a shuttle to the bar.  Someone with a bit inflatable and reliable outboard to act as "mother ship" is quite helpful.

Rockfish, "how do you do it...(sail)" I'll try to take some pics of my Mirage Classic. There's a vertical hatch right in front of the pedals.  Previous owner replaced the hatch with a 3/8 plywood cover, into which he had embedded a 1/2" heavy PVC mast step.  The standard Hobie sail rig slips right in and will furl.  The hatch is screwed in place, so you lose access while the sail rig is in place.  He also outfitted the boat with removable outriggers, but unless the wind is heavy I can balance the sail without the outriggers.

Not sure what your hatch layout is, or if you're willing to sacrifice being able to open it easily....
I'm in Elk Grove if you want to see it yourself.

Thanks! I wasn't talking about drinking though...I would wait until after I was done and safely back at camp for that.  :smt001

The map really helps though! Thanks again!

I know what you are thinking...

"Bar" means different things to different people.
To Jim it means boring sandy bottom. LOL

Sweet deal!

I plan to camp over there here soon, but on one of the smaller beaches. I'll try and relay any relevant information that may help with planning.

What is the fee that needs to be sent to you for each night? I still need to look at my schedule.

$5 or $6 total will reserve your spot whether you are staying one night or three nights at the campsite.

there is still a permit for camping fee that I still have to purchase for camping a Point Reyes National Seashore but that will be included in the total fee probably  $6 for each person. (that is camping/permit total)

Everyone will be responsible for their own parking fees for the number of nights you will be staying.
