Heck.... SteveS or CPkayak should be teaching that striper seminar.

Using bullheads for bait is a good old school technique, but I don't know how effective it is in the bay anymore.  Bullheads were thick in the bay about 10 years ago.  I haven't caught one in years.

No kidding.  I remember catching bullheads by the dozen years ago. Put one on a sliding rig and wham!  Not anymore, no bullheads. Maybe the Delta?

I remember catching them inside the Foster City Lagoon and using them for BIG leopard sharks right by the Foster City levy (using surf rod).

...wonder what happened to the bull heads? Maybe Glen can shed some light on this mystery.....

What about Mud-suckers do you still catch those in the bay and lagoons?
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

I caught a few by Redwood Shores with my cast net earlier in the year....but they were really small. The few that I caught got through the net  :smt013 I may try laying some traps overnight and see what's available......

They are there.  some people use them for bait, I think sharks and bass will hit them.  Sturgeon?

add a stinger hook behind the bull head and add some Herring eggs on it....now you got a combo platter.....a swimming bull head with eggs trailing behind it.....how can ANY sturgeon say no to that         :smt045

I caught alot of midshippmen a few years back in the spring at berkeley marina.  I was hopping on rocks at low tide and when I jumped on one a midshippman squirted out.  Flipping over rocks, several buddies and I caught about 30 of them.  I froze my share in 2-3 packs for shark bait, the last of which was used up about a year ago.  Those buggers are slimy and tough...  I bet they'd be as good for sturgeon as eel is.  A live one would probably be outstanding, as they seem rather tough.

I've caught a few bullheads, but not many.  Can't say I use small enough hooks very often.
