Since there are no tourneys on the horizon, I thought I'd liven things up with some freestyle tourney talk.

Me and bigeyedave are actively going after the big ling jackpot.  We have a plan.  The plan does NOT involve Elk. It does involve our top secret monster ling-a-saurasrex honey hole.  I won't rest til we break 42" and/or 30#.  Bsteves...your going down! :smt064

Should we fail miserably...feel free to mock us! :smt016

I am also putting my efforts towards the monster ling-a-saurasrex this week.  I was thinking about trying a new possible secret spot(not elk).  I am going to be using my newbie luck in full force.  Prepare to be beaten!

Hey Yoda and young Luke.... I'm going after LINGZILLA and he's going to be so big, I'll be able to use your Ling-a-saurasrex for bait.

I know they're around here.  At HMB, I saw a guy catch a 46" ling that weighed around 35 lbs.  It hitch-hiked on a 4# red.

Well guys, looks like my ocean days are numbered this year, so I'll bow out of the Ling/RCG big fish pools.  Salmon and Butt is done too.

But an 11 lb striper???  Sean, you are going down!!!!!

I will be hitting the delta starting next month, though it does conflict with crabs.

I used to go with my dad in our alum boat, doing combo trips for duck hunting and striper fishing mainly at Big Break.  We caught fish in the low 20's (that's lbs, not inches), so I now they're out there.  It's been a long time, but I know there's some nice fish there.

BTW, I also have a hook up on bait.  My buddy's parent's have a house at Disco bay and he's already got his receiver stocked with Threadfin Shad!!!!!!!  Last weekend, they landed an 8lber off the back of their dock and a few day's prior, he actually landed fish ranging from 5-11lbs, unfortunately it was a night (no thanks) somewhere in the delta maze.  I think its still too early, but Nov/Dec is prime (and COLD).

As for San Luis, we used to hit both the main lake and forebay pretty hard.  About 10-12lbs was our top end fish, but that's pretty sad given the number of day's put in.  We caught tons and tons of small ones though.  Back then, it was a 5 fish limit, no size restrictions.  In the forebay, limits were very common (and very small).  We definitely had better quality fish in the big lake, but less consistent action.

Sean, I predict you will go DOWN to a Delta striper.  Its been a long time, so I think my body can withstand just one dose of pesticides and heavy metals.

11 pounds is just my opening bid.  If its the delta, I'm in.  I know THE spot, but I haven't been in YEARS. We used to drift mega minnows for 20 # units.  I'd post the pics, but I still had hair back then, not sure I could handle the humiliation.

Joel is about the only safe person, but one big ugly maroon and purple  delta salmon could take him out too!

OMG! I've been having these exact same thoughts.  I've spent many nights freezing my ass off in the bottom of an aluminum boat too.  I have a couple spots up my sleeve, trolling by day......soaking bluegills and gobies by night.  Anybody gonna be up for night missions?

Art,
I MIGHT be in for a night mission, MAYBE.

Ahh, you also know about the live bluegill bait.  A not so secret, secret anymore.  I've never used them, but my buddy keeps telling me that its the delta "candy" along w/live shad.

Hey Al - how were those Kings you caught in Sitka? What method of rigging did you use - trolling or mooching?

I want to go to Alaska REALLY BAD  :smt007
