Anyone know when is the new Hobie Livewell V2 coming out? Judging from the video, it seems there are several improvements. Without any prior experience, I am just not sure how much better it will be. Any comment is deeply appreciated.

Only read description and saw few pics of the new tank, but the marine switch sounds like a plus.

The V1 tank works fine, but uses a non marine switch, completely exposed inside the bait tank.  This switch is a known failure point with tons of people posting about it throughout the years.  Looks like they finally got the idea that a switch used near water should be marine grade.

I ended up rebuilding mine with marine grade switch and new pump, because the wiring was corroded all the way to the pump.   I'd stay away from the V1 unless you like to rebuild things.   :smt005

Thanks a lot! This is really helpful. I have heard about V1 could be problematic but wasn't sure what the problem is. I will wait for V2 then.

The v2 version looks sweet, but IÂ’m a cheap bastard. IÂ’’m currently making my own. Got the idea from several sources on YouTube, mainly from halibu77.

D.C. 12v submersible water pump, 9ah sla battery wired in DC voltage regulator  enclosed in a waterproof box with a marine grade toggle switch on top. Reason for the voltage regulator is to control the pump speed and extend battery on the water.

It is already on sale. I saw it a few weeks ago at Fast Lane Sailing and Kayaking. The main difference is the inclusion of an internal baffle, and you can drain it easier with the red handle. It now shares a lot of parts with their Livewell XL. But the battery compartment is still not sealed. :smt009

Thanks! I did a quick Google search and found a few websites are selling them. Hopefully some local stores will carry it soon.

Nice! You took it a step further with the wiring. I just ended up getting a 6v 12amp hour. This is my live well. Not complete, but the overall look will not change.

You can put it together in a day. The lengthy portion of the build is waiting/sourcing out the parts. I can send you a list of the parts I used if you want to tackle it on your own.
