Very nice work :blob1:

Do you sit on top of raised section in the middle
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Randy
I bought drawings for Sabalo SOT from www.JEMWatercraft.com
That is where the specs are listed, plus my set of progress pics during construction are posted by Matt Laggenfeld owner.
My finished kayak with accesssories weighs-in at about 80 lbs. However, about 20 lbs is extra customized steps for my application as a fishing kayak, such as, "trunk" for mounting my Hobie drive and a thick base 3/4 in marine ply for the middle deck panel for extra strengthing of flush-mount rod holders.
The hatches are Viking Marine, the rudder is SeaLine (Cascade Designs) controlled by a SeaLine rudder control tab kit mounted 99.999% internally. Lots of trial and error was required on every customization to make it work properly. Luckily I decided to buy three trim tab kits because you can only trim the cable once.  The rudder needed to be offset by a piece of teak 1"x1".
The wood I used is called Joubert Okuome 5mm in 4x8 sheets. It's a dense wood similar to Mahogany. RAKA epoxy and 4oz cloth. Interlux Perfection ClearCoat two-part epoxy gloss finish..
You do sit in the middle cockpit well while paddling, Mooching you can sit 90 degrees perpendicular in comfort.
It's good launching and landing, very stable at rest. Only a boat wake close by will spill into the rear tankwell otherwise it's always dry.
This is the 1st season to use it so I'm still fine tuning paddling technique when you sit a lot higher than the standard touring kayak. I'm a little slower than the plastic SOTs, but once I bring my fishing skills up to your level it won't boher me a bit to be the last on land with limits inside.
The answer to the speed problem is fine-tuning my Seylor backrest installation to use during fishing too. So far I haven't used it during fishing because it's in the way at rest.
Lot's of time and money required to do this!!!
Thanks a lot for the complements everyone and pics Joel!!
Here is a pic from LaJolla in December when I had everything installed:

Very nice.

Outstanding project, and it looks as though it works great.

Looks absolutely awesome!!  :smt007 Excellent work! My dad was ahuge fan of New England boat building so always saw boats being built around me. To ba able to build a fishing kayak is a dream. Unfortunately, I don't have a place to build it yet and getting a budget past the director of finances is always hard. :smt002 But I will be building this kayak! Thanks for the inspiration.
