- Did you buy this gigantic downrigger and found out it won't work for your kayak?
- Then I am happy to trade you my Scotty lake troller and anything to make it a fair trade.
Looking for: Scotty Depthking 1060.
Trade: Lake troller + to be determined.

I have a Scotty Laketroller downrigger which I use on my 13’ Trident. See http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=11486.msg128141#msg128141 . Then I mounted a modified Scotty Depthmaster on my 13’ Revolution. See http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=11954.msg132845#msg132845 . Then I mounted a Cannon Lake-Troll on my Revolution. See http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=12575.0 . I prefer the Cannon Lake-Troll to the Scotty Depthmaster, and would be willing to sell you my Depthmaster. Here are a couple pictures of the modified Depthmaster:

If you don’t have a Revolution, you can remove the cylinder and use the base plate to mount the Depthmaster on a gear track.

PM me if you’re interested.

IMHO, pmmpete has a pretty great setup there. I copied his approach (with a few minor mods), and I think it would be hard to beat.

Pmpete is the go to guy for downrigger set-ups for fishing for trout in deep lakes!!!!
He has made some great modifications with the downriggers for kayak fishing!!!

I like his setup too. Very clean and secure. :smt006

Still in the market for Depthking 1060.

Chet - Where are you planning to mount the 1060? I have a 1050 mounted to my Outback near my left knee. It works great, but my knee barely clears it with each pedal stroke. I'm not sure a 1060 would fit in that spot.
Edit: I just rewatched my video (below) and there's a little more clearance than I remembered... I think I subconsciously changed my pedal stroke to account for it...

I mount it just behind the seat. I use outboard mount for support.
I guess you know what I am thinking about this year...

Aloha NCKA Bruddahs,
I was very fortunate that PMpete sold me his Scotty Depthmaster that made for a pre 2015 REVO 13. I had to make a few mods on my new 2016 REVO 2016, as I decided to mount the DR on YakAttack GT90 tracks (a 12" and 4"). I had already mounted a 12"Yakattack GT90 track on my right side was that for mounting my Lowrance Hook 5 very close to me and also a have some space for a rod holder. I had to cut and shave down the UHD (Ultra High Density Plastic) It 's pretty tough and durable stuff. Used a very sharp plane to take off a lot of material so that cone that fits into the Bottle Holder was flush and sitting well. There is a slight difference in measurements with the older and the newer 2016 Revo 13.
I started using my new Scotty Depthmaster at Shadow Cliffs a few times and like PmPetes version where he cut the arm down so that the weight sits pretty close to the side Revo. Not having a long bar makes handling the DT a lot easier, especially if you are dragging a 8# weight. I could see in ocean conditions that a long arm sticking out may make you prone to flipping your kayak, when you pull up a 8#weight.
I chose the GT90 tracks because the gunwale on the Revo 13 is not very wide. I used a one piece solid 12" and 4" backing plate for both tracks so that they would be very strong and not put too much stress in the gunwale area.
So thanks Peter (Pmpete) for your incredible ablilty to build and modify a larger sized DR for a Hobie Revo 13!!!!
I'm really lucky to have one of your creations!!!
Here's few pics of the final install with the GT90 tracks and 12" (cockpit) and 4" (forward). I mount my Fishfinder on the back part of the 12" track so that it is right next to me and right next to the DR.

Mounted mine up front on my Adv. Sold the Adv but it will still mount up front on my Revo.

Tote, how does your motor attach to the cable reel of your Scotty Laketroller? What drives the cable reel?
