Last Sunday my neighbor Jason B and I did a last minute, mid-morning FW mission to a nearby lake/pond.
This secret stash (lake name rhymes with Pancho-Waco) is a haven for planter trout, LMB and panfish.
Best fished when temps are below 100 degs., you never know when you might tie on to a good-sized bass or at least an 8" Redear in this nuclear valley water impoundment.
We hit the back bay launch at around 10am, flailing the water with fly rods in 4 and 5 wt. and small nymphs.
After a short while the Sunfish were ready to play, and we had steady action on feisty little fish for 3 hrs.
JB scored the fish of the morning with a nice 10"+ Red.
Off the water by 1:30 or so - a great time was had, and all fishes got to sleep in their beds that evening. :smt003

Sounds like lots of fun action! A good place to bring the kid to learn some fly action. Thanks for the report.

3 hours of steady action is exactly that :smt006

Did you hit any on poppers???

Thanks guys! :smt001
Yes, Rancho Seco is a good place for a kid to cast a fly.
No hits on top Tote, started with the deadly popper dropper combo, but no love...
