Hey new to the Nor Cal area trying to find out some good spots to take the kayak and camp for a weekend. Maybe just rockfish/crab or halibut or anything that bites type fishing trip I wanna get out of my half moon bay bubble. Any advice will be appreciated! Thanks!

Depends on what you consider camping and what you want to do when not fishing.
You want an easy launch? From rocks or sand?
You tent camping?
Do you like crowded areas or more space to spread out?
Are you just eating and sleeping when not fishing or do you want to go sight seeing, hiking, mushroom hunting, shopping or something else.
Some spots are also real windy. I donÂ’t like heavy winds in my camp but some donÂ’t mind.

Welcome Jake. I’m with you. I like to just wake up and go fishing if its an option. Getting up early and driving2 hours to get to the honey hole then unloading the yak and gear can take alot out of the trip.
Join us in Timber Cove this Sat. Might camp out Fri night..

lot's of places along the Sonoma coast for camping/fishing - Ocean Cove, Timber Cove, then up to Albion, Russian Gulch. I've enjoyed all of those places for various reasons. The fishing in all those places are good. I think that's a good starting list for you.

Man didn't think about all that haha. Pretty much up for anything I like easy launches and surf launches. Will be getting a snug top for my truck and sleeping in the bed so that makes it easier. Mushroom hunting sounds cool would go good with some fresh crab or fish. Not huge on hiking more of a stay out all day and fish type person. Not very picky when it comes to fishing trips, I guess only things would be I would like to have a fire and not turn into a scene out of Jason.

Oh man I already planned a trip back to Hawaii this weekend otherwise I would. Heard fishing has been good out there so bought a plane ticket still have my ocean kayak over there ready to go. How often do you make that trip? Ill look up where that is might make a trip the following weekend if fishing was good for you.

If you like Trout, Bass, Crappie or Catfish, pretty much every mountain lake has a campground.

Shelter Cove, Albion, Ocean Cove, Anchor Bay all excellent fishing with boat launch/ surf launch close to camping.

Doran Beach in Bodega if you wanna drop your crab pots. Berryessa and Clear Lake are decent lakes with camping all around. More of a mountain lake would be Pillsbury. Bumpy road but beautiful lake and good campground. Launch from Nick's Cove in Tomales for great halibut fishing. You can take your camping gear in the kayak and beach camp around there. McCovey cove during baseball season, fishing is nil but the beer and atmosphere are great!
