Never have fished in the delta but wanted to get into it this fall as the bite turns hot for returning stripers.  Looking for advice on launch sites  in western part of delta.  Any recommendations for launch sites and fishing sites readily accessible by kayak without involving mega distance paddling?

awesome, I will be fly fishing with clousers.  Any recommendations on where to find fish?  Do you fish the tide in the slough or better luck in grizzly bay?

Sherman Island launch gives you access to Sherman lake which is my fave in the fall.

Last weekend I launched out of big breaks and hit a school of stripers that we're great fun to pull on! In the 15-17" range nothing big tho. I was fishing on the incoming tide

Sherman Island is a plus for me. Discovery bay gets loaded with stripers and half a mile north of Rivers end marina where the water is released by Clifton court for bay and Old River on the side where the bamboo is. In Discovery bay catch the small bluegills then drift them under the docks. The last two places are south west delta.

I've never fished the delta either and would love to strip clousers for stripers, too! If you need company let me know and I'll try to get up there.

I caught a nice ~4 lb striper in steamboat slough whilst bass fishing last weekend. It's not a classic striper spot like Sherman but they're there (especially if you fish deeper around the rip-rap channel swings or drift bait). You can launch from brannan down south or steamboat landing at the top (I've never launched from here and I think they don't open until 10 on winter hours but it's an appealing location with the sac river right there)

Toss big baits at a (tidal influenced )area!! 1 foot to 4 feet of water first 2 hours of that moving tide incoming is prefered but out going will work just dont get stuck when the tide goes out

Antioch Marina is a good launch site as well. Just be careful not to get caught by strong winds or currents.
