I'm planning to take my kayak on its maiden voyage to Folsom this weekend.  I am thinking of launching from the Rattlesnake Bar ramp or the Granite Bay ramp.  I'm hoping some of you veterans can impart some wisdom on a newbie on a new kayak.  I have fished up and down the shores around both areas but this will be my first time on the water.  :smt003

I was able to pick up a suspenz dlx at rei for cheap after using my dividend.  I will be at rattlesnake starting at around 10 on Saturday and will most likely go up to Rollins on Sunday at about the same time.  (I don't want to get in the way of the tourney at rollins on Saturday...especially since i will be learning on the water).  I will be paddling a blue camo vibe sea ghost 110.  Looking forward to meeting people on the water and hopefully hooking into some fish :smt003

I took the kids to the boy scout pind today and saw the water was up and the ramp was open.  Guess you didn't need the cart after all.  How was the fishing?

We caught a few out of the pond.  Great place to take kids with little patience.  I was looking for you but never saw a yak on the lake while we were there.  Maybe we can join up another time.

How was the fishing at Rollins?

I fished down the North West and up the North East of Rattlesnake Bar Saturday and was skunked.  Talked to about 6 others (boats and yaks) and only one smallie caught out of the entire group.

Fishing was really good considering the lake conditions.  Lots of fish caught.  My best three went 39.25 finished pretty good.

Haven't been able to get out last weeks due to family commits.... but reserved this Saturday for me to get out. I like Rattlesnake bar as less busy with boaters/jetski traffic. And water level now high enough, ramp is open. what a difference few weeks made.
I would have expected Folsom Lake to be able to catch some good fish this time of year with water temps warming up? Should almost be post-spawn? During late winter I got skunked there a few times as well. Will figure this lake out at some point, its just closest to home. But maybe worth sometime to take trip to Lake Oroville (also state park) or Rollins Lake, also never been to Sac Port....
