Was slow pitching a butterfly jig  south of Fort Ross beach at the pinnacles, Got into something big 3 Times and couldn’t  get it off the bottom, retrieved the same jig twice,  on the 3rd go.. after 30 min + fights back to back I got gassed. Felt outgunned and wanted to swear like a pirate. It felt like a sturgeon battle where it just hugged the bottom got it up the 25ft but every time it got close it just dove back down like my Lexa and trevala S was nothing. Got to the  point that my 30lb braid started to chaffe through the guides cause that tug back and forth was in the same location.  I wanna say big Ling or Pac halibut, but this felt like something more  and No was not snagged because it was a sleigh ride all over that area... any theories? Grouper, Black Sea Bass... IDK?!?

Black sea bass seems like a definite possibility.
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

Biggest ling I've ever seen in person was caught at that reef by DonD. The thing had the head the size of a sheep's. He let her go. May be her again.

If I can get a pic  from the fellow kayaker I was fishing with , it was the guts that was pulled from the fish maybe some of you can identify. Lol I’m serious this thing put up a big ol fight..  :smt005 could be a ling but dammit I want redemption.. gotta  say the San Diego Jam knot on 30lb braid held up . Maybe bringing out the 8ft abyss and bigger conventional reel.
