So first week of garbage at the new house. New can, but it sits directly in the sun...for now.
We moved in July 23rd but the contractor finally left for good yesterday so still living with everything strewn about.
Wednesday is our garbage pick up day so it goes to the curb Tuesday.
I walk out to the patio to get the can and right above my head I hear a whoosh, whoosh, whoosh. Big wings from a  big bird; then another.
I look up and see about 7 buzzards circling real low right above the patio.
Hm, that's weird. Then I get a whiff from the direction of the garbage can. OMG!!! Was it BAD!
I guess the heat box baking all the trash really went off.
I took the can to the curb, which is 130 yards away and forgot about it.
Next day I get the can, no smell.
I put it back where it came from, walked away, and got another whiff of that awful smell.
WTF???
So I put my sniffer to work and it took me up the hill directly above the cans.
Felt like a bloodhound, but I found it.
Not the can at all.
Not sure what got this little guy, but the deer haven't been around for a bit and they would graze in the yard as we sat on the deck.
Chadrock and I saw 2 deer bolt from the top of that hill down the side of our yard the day after I moved in. Wonder what made them bolt?
I am relieved to know it wasn't my garbage causing the gathering of buzzards.  :smt044

Looks like all the bits and pieces are still there.  Let's see, what animals kill other animals without needing a meal..?

Yuck, had one killed by a car right in front of our house didn't know it was in the ditch across the street 30 yards from the front door. Woke up in the morning walked out front 15 or 20 buzzards in the trees above the house really creepy walking out to that and then the smell hit you to figure out what it was

The heat and dermestids isn't going to leave much after a month.
I've been taking Henry to the dump with me every couple months now. I've been teaching him that stinky stuff equals jobs. the other day with mom and the nieces as they went by a foul dairy in the valley they were all complaining about the smell and he pipes up "Smells like money to me". I wonder what he would say about a rotting deer carcass  :smt005
