Any fly tiers on the board?

What kind of vice are you guys using?

Any recommendations for a newbie looking for a descent vice?

Anybody using a DynaKing Kingfisher?

Thanks
~MarcosM~

Marcos,

I picked up a used nor-vise this week so I'm selling my dynaking barracuda. I tied a crap load of flies on it from #22 trout flies to big striper and rockfish flies, great vise.

If you're interested in a good value vise, I'd go with a Peak. I tied on one for a couple of years before I found a deal on the barracuda. If you're interested give me a buzz.

+1, but twenty years, tied down to 32 and big as 3/0, when you get your gear together we can have a tying clinic at my place, cameron

I tie a little, but my vise is a cheapie Thompson.
I think I paid about $20.00 new, about 20 years ago.
I've seen some sweet ones out there - but as is the fly fishing world - very expensive. :smt001

I have a Danvise, it is a cheaper vice but I have tied everything from tiny size 22 midges to 6/0 deer hair bass bugs.  If I could afford one I would buy a Nor-vise.

And for the love of all that is good and bad, DO NOT buy a fly tying kit.  Buy individuals tools.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Great info fellas.
I've seen those Nor-vises and they look sweet.
The more I look into vises, the harder it is to make a decision.
Golfish, I'm gonna need to talk with you about that Barracuda

The guy I bought the nor-vise from has a bunch of other vises, fly tying stuff and single handers he's trying to sell. He's clearing stuff from an estate, he posted on kienes board and is in Fairfield. PM me if you want his contact info. He had a couple other dynakings I believe too.

Agree buying a kit is not the way to go but buying someones used stuff is a great way.
