Most of the fish we caught I couldn't ID, including this sweetlip. I figure someone on this forum would be able to tell the name by posting it. All fish returned unharmed except for the marlin.

Top one looks like some sort of wrasse.  Silver one looks like a mullet.

I see more wrasses, and the silver one is a ballyhoo (great bait!).

WOW! That is the only fish we scarified as bait! She hooked the ballyhoo not even knowing how, then the sweetlip chew on it.

Thanks! We didn't have time to eat it. We were flying back on that same night. I tried a piece of marlin liver and belly meat raw. The liver was interesting, very fishy. The meat was dipped in saltwater so I can't really taste the flavor. But the texture is great for sushi. The captain sold the fish before we even dock. But yes, the experience was just incredible.

   Thanks for the write-up. I would have to bring my fishing pole the next time I go there. Moorea, was one of the best drift dive I've I have ever done. With the currenr pushing we were hopping from one Rock to another filled with coral. While holding a banana with a bunch of fishes chasing and eating of the banana. I felt like I was part Peter Pan flying through the air, Spider-Man hopping off the rocks while holding a torch of fishes. Surreal experience.
