Title: River Rescue Certification (Swiftwater)
Post by: P-Sherman on January 13, 2014, 11:09:58 AM
My daughter gave me this class/certification as a Christmas gift. Why? Because she thinks I should add it to my "McGyver" skills.....lol!
Our family goes on river kayaking/rafting at least once a year.

Anyway, I took the class last weekend and I got certified.
Here's the link for the company that offered the course and if you want to see the course description:

I'm not in the best of shape, I couldn't even run a full 2 miles plus I'm probably at least 30lbs overweight out of my 220lbs. The water in the American River was between 38F-50F last weekend but my Kokatat semi-dry kept me sane and "warm" enough to last two days of being in and out of the water.

These skills may be for swiftwater rescue but there's other skills that also applies to ocean rescue. Hopefully, I won't have to rescue anyone but at least I have some skills I can rely on.

Just thought I'd share.
