Is there more than one launch option for Salinas River?  The one that I know of, but have never been looks to be down by the bridge.

Also,  I assume it is open right now,  anyone fish it recently?  Hows the fishing?

Gotta go with steelhead rules.  Weekends, Wednesdays, Holidays.  Barbless hooks. I've only ever launched from the bridge myself.  Now if you are interested in the Pajaro.........I might be your good good friend!

I dont mind barbless as I am mostly CNR,  but can I not fish there at other times even if I am targeting striper instead of steelhead?

I am totally interested in pajaro as well!

Leave your windows down so they don't break them. :smt002 DFG has been patrolling it like crazy but doesn't seem to deter the scum bags. Watch out for the duck hunters they will shoot at you. :smt005 Sat ,Sun,Wed,and legal holidays only.. Good luck.

Also don't forget about the closed area .  Look at the map .  You can still go through it just not while trolling or casting.  And no you can't say your targeting another spieces.  You need your steelhead punch card, one rod only while trolling , and barbless hooks. The bridge is a good half way point.  Go up and around to the dam or down and about to the inlet/ bay.....

I checked out that place before.   Not a good place to leave your car unattended.

I got 7 stripers to 24” on sunday, mostly on a rattletrap, down towards the beach. Lots of people fishing and a few shooting...also saw a few lmb, pikeminnow, and a trout. They’re in most of the other local rivers too.
And just a heads up that its the grossest, most polluted water you’ll find. So try not to touch the water or else you’ll get sick.
