I was trying to be nice and let everyone get some.

If you have more, I will definitely take em.  Need to do about 8 more crab traps.  I use about 13 pounds for each one.

I have 4 with me in El Cerrito and another 5-6 at the jobsite in SF.

General Talk / Re: Martinez Flounder
« on: January 31, 2021, 10:09:44 PM »
Thanks for the information, however, I was looking for a how to from a kayak. The flounder are abundant in the Martinez area right now, but the pier gets crowded so I was thinking about going out in the kayak.

My thought is that I would need to anchor, and have the bait stationary, but was wondering if a drift would work.

Thats interesting to hear starrys are abundant in Martinez right now, as mentioned before, their population has declined a lot.
If you decide to go and need a buddy, then you've peaked my interest.  Let me know if you head out.

Message me two weeks before you guys plan to arrive and we’ll schedule a day (or a few days) to target halibut in the SF Bay Area.  I’m sure I can get Eddie to come along.

I don’t think there’s a specific rig for flounder.  I remember catching starry flounder in Richmond/Pinole while targeting perch.  Hi-low rig with shrimp or pile worms.

I think finding the right bottom structure is more important.

Oyster Point, Alameda Rock Wall, Berkeley Marina, Ferry Point, Paradise Park, Fort Baker... are just a few with very easy launches and relatively safe surroundings to fish.

Yes, there should be plenty for everyone.  I didn’t know so many people wanted them.  What could you use them other than crab weights?  Metal recycling doesn’t give much money for them.

I should have most of them out by end of the week.  I’ll contact tedski for a few to bring to the Monterey guys and keep some around for the SF bay guys.

I’ll have 40-50 of these weight very soon.  If they don’t get used, then they go in the debris box.

Come take however many you want.

Any idea what material they are?!

Mind if I ask who you work for in the city?  Contractor?

Cast Iron.

I am my own GC.

One of my projects in SF has 15 windows which I’m replacing all of them.  Each antique window uses 4x weights, roughly 4lbs each.  Figure they might be good crab pot weights or something that someone could use.

Free to pick up at the job site near Twin Peaks or at my house in El Cerrito.
