Woke up and checked out of the Marriot at 5:30AM to a steady wind and shady conditions. Met up with the fellas at the launch, had our greetings, picked up bait, launched, and drifted, and drifted, and drifted for notadamnthing. No game fish landed by anyone, but Joel (Mooch) hooked up with a small batray and (Phishin)Pat hooked up with a ray and two leopards. Other than those incidentals everyone came in stinkin' like skunk...But a good time was had by all.

And now the thanks:
Thanks to Chuck for setting all this up.
Thanks to Chuck and Jason for gettin' down on the grill.
Thanks to Bill for all of the stickers.
Thanks to the Hobie reps for the demos and raffle prizes.
Thanks to Baitshop Mike for hookin' up the early shiners and donating the BBQ area to our GT.
Thanks to Erik for lettin' me paddle his Marauder. Now I really want one!

Good to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones!  :smt006

Sorry to hear fishing wasn't great, glad you all had a good time anyway.

Now on to something important ... did the Red Bull Girls show up? :smt003

Yeah, I guess ONE girl showed up with some dude, they dropped off a cooler full of Red Bull, ate a hot dog, and bailed before 12:00 when the majority of us landed.  :smt010

That sucks, no red bull girls  :smt009 I was really looking forward to those pics...

No fish isn't that bad, still a better than being at work.

Thanks for the report,

Craigh

Sorry you guys didn't hook up.  Do you roll over the prize money or raffle it off ? Did Mooch impress the RBGirl with his speedos? Anybody troll?

What a wet day. Still had a lot of fun. Good to see some familiar faces and new ones.
The hotdogs and redbull hit the spot, just enough energy for the ride back home.

I want to echo the Thanks to the coordinators and Q'ers. I left before the raffles, I totally forgot about it.

Hope everyone got home safe. Can't wait to see some pics.

Gonna have to try again with some live 'chovies.

Oh yeah - the prize money will be rolled over to the HMB Tourney.

Also - EVERYONE won AT LEAST one raffle prize today (free raffle) and everyone came away with a handful of NCKA stickers thanks to Bill.

Sorry the fishing wasn't better, but with this crew you can still have a great time even without fish!

We were all disappointed that we didn't catch any fish but you couldn't tell.  Chuck did a great job organizing this event and Bill did his usual great job as well.  With the exception of a couple of burnt dogs  :smt012 the food was great and the company better.  You know you are doing something right when you go to a fishing Derby in which not a fish was caught but we all looked like winners! :smt001  Good time had by all.

I had a great time there even though I didn't even get a nibble.  The water conditions were real rough most of the morning.  I paddled my ass off just to get back in.  Met some more anglers from this site.  Thats always cool.

Also would like to thank Chuck and Bill.  Thanks to Mike from OPBait.  Thanks to Tim Krane of Hobie for bringing the demos and for the t-shirt I won in the raffle, super cool!  Thanks to Cal-Kayak for the dry bag I won in the drawing.  Thanks to Jason for manning the grill.     :occasion14:  JTF..
