I just got a call from Mark Pastick, owner of Kayak Connection.  His annual Father's Day Derby (Sunday, June 18th) will be in fresh water this year.  It's a wise move considering rockfish season doesn't open until July.

Targetted species:  Bass, Trout, and Crawdads

Mark says that the crawdads will go good with the beer.  I agree.

Stay tuned for more details.....

What a great spot for a kayak derby.  For those who haven't been there, it's a real beauty and soooo mellow.  I'm in and I hope lots of others can join in too.  Great picnicing, lots of trails.  Fun place for the family if they want to join the fun.

I fished Loch Lomond Sat 4-29 with a PB buddy.  Well, sorta PB since no gas engines are allowed.  The lake is still not ready to fish and has been receiving steady plants all year.  June should be excellent.

It's in Santa Cruz county, above Ben Lomond off of highway 9.
