General Fishing Tips / Monterey bay fishing location?
« on: July 30, 2015, 09:31:05 PM »
I've done shore fishing in Monterey for perch and cabezon but have not yet kayak there. Kayak in cambria and caught plenty of rockfish with excellent results but want to widen my saltwater kayak fishing and location and thinking of Monterey. I seem great videos on YouTube of amazing catches, but main question is where to fish at and what places is best for launching a yak? I know there are some location that can't be fish but is it for kayakers also? Any info on fishing in Monterey would help a lot. Thanks in advance.

Safety First / Kayak in the rain
« on: December 02, 2014, 04:24:35 PM »
Have any of you done kayaking in the rain since we have all this rain now and tomorrow is my day off but didn't want the rain to stop me from my fun times.  But is it safe? Hope no lightning but figure my wader, PFD, jacket and my tarpon 120 and maybe two rods for fishing.

Any safety tips for raining day kayaking or not to do it at all.

General Fishing Tips / Fish at 82+feet deep, how to catch?
« on: November 21, 2014, 11:06:08 PM »
during the summer months it was easier to catch fish because fish were near the top between 30feet deep to 3feet, and lakes like O'neill Forebay at less than 30ft I am use to fishing. Drop a minnow or worm or even trolling lures but now that it's been colder and fish are in the 70+feet deep some at 125ft deep. My question is how do you catch them? Or what would you use to catch them? Species are trout, bass, crappies, catfish, king salmon, kokkenee and bluegills.

I've gone out and as fun as it is just kayaking it would be nice to pull up a fish when they are that deep.

Any info or advice would help me out a lot. Thanks in Advance.

Introductions / Delta Fishing?
« on: November 25, 2013, 08:24:22 PM »
Have anyone done kayak fishing in the delta by Rio Vista to Antioch and what have you use to catch fish? And is it safe to kayak there? I've catch fish from shore but seen low and high tie and high winds but never seen any kayaker but wanting to try to pull in a sturgeon or striper on my yak.. Any info is helpful.
