Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

We received news today that Hobie Fishing has chosen the Shasta Bass Kayak Classic March 25-26 as a Hobie Fishing Worlds Qualifier.

This is great news for kayaking in our area, not only do we get to raise money for ShastaCA Heroes On The Water but norcal kayak anglers get to prove their kayak fishing skills against participants from around the western US.

First place will be a CHOICE an invitation to the 2017 Hobie Fishing Worlds (with amount to still be determined to cover travel costs) or a 2017 Hobie Outback.

Second place will receive which ever prize the first place finisher doesn't choose. We will also do additional payout depending on number of participants.

At minimum $30 from each entry will go to Heroes On The Water

Each participant will receive raffle tickets with their entry fee. We have some nice prizes to give away including a Lowrance 5ti Touch, Hero 5, Action Hat, NRS PDF's

You can register and read all the rules at http://ianglertournament.com/shasta-bass-kayak-classic

Registration is $100 before March 1, $125 after that date until 6:00 pm March 24 at the Captains meeting. If you are going to register on site at meeting it will be CASH only.

Update on Tournament

We have 26 registered, 17 paid in full, if you want to see who is fishing look here at the Leaderboard page;

http://ianglertournament.com/tournament/leaderboard/1473?day=03%2F25%2F2017&dayEnd=03%2F26%2F2017

If you want to be assured of premium Captains Bag and tournament t-shirt, please register and pay in full by March 1.

We will likely allow a shotgun start, if you are going to be on the water before first light you must have a light on your kayak otherwise you will have to wait until official starting time to launch. If you launch early you must stay in the designated boundaries we determine until fishing is allowed. Bridge Bay Resort has a paved launch ramp and long floating dock. We will request that you stay with in that general area.

Remember to check rules page on iAngler for latest "official" updates" http://ianglertournament.com/shasta-bass-kayak-classic

Headwaters Adventure is supplying burger/hot dogs and drinks during the Captains Meeting Friday evening.

Bridge Bay Resort is just about full, maybe one or two rooms left at lodge. (530) 275-3021

Fawndale Resort off I-5, one mile south of Bridge Bay, they have tenting ($18-$21), cabins ($63-$99) and RV parking ($30)

Lake Shasta is clearing up, last couple storms, snow level has been lower so less rain, and much of the rain has stayed south.

Just finished booking my room at Bridge bay resort. I think there may be a handful of rooms available. It was 67.50 per night for a king-size room.
