Just an early heads up and since May's tides didn't work we had to change from Tillamook Bay May Day to Tillamook Bay Kayak Day since its in June.  More details to come and benefits go to H.O.W.  North Oregon Coast Chapter.
Got discounted camping at the Old Mill Rv Park as well as launching from there decommissioned boat ramp. It's 30 minutes from Pacific City an awesome near shore rock fishing hole and about an hour and a half from the Columbia River in Astoria or Portland.

Edited::::::

So the day is picked and it will be Saturday June 10th with a 8:33 low tide so we will have an early am launch 0600.  Mark your calendars and anyone interested in helping out speak up, or pm me. I would like to get the request letters for donations out ASAP. More to come and suggestions always welcome. The beneficiary for this event will be...The new HOW NOC chapter . Hope to get the raffle handled as smooth as this year and we will be rolling with the after party early again so those not staying aren't driving home at midnight.

Registration should stay at $30 this year. We will be having captains bags again this year for the (non mandatory) captains meeting Friday evening.

Rules:
Ok guys basic rules are
no power boats or assistance from one..
sails are perfectly fine as it's not that big of an area
Tandems are ok as long as both occupants are registered to compete .. Only legal to retain fish will be weighed....
ALL ODFW  rules apply...
Competitors are responsible for an Oregon fishing license as well as a invasive species permit....
You may only win ONE of the three classes for fish (let me know if that's not clear enough)...
Launch and landing at Old Mill Rv Park...
Pre registered guys can launch at First light (1/2 hour before sunrise ..
3:30 weigh in as if you're off the water by 3:30 we will weigh you in....
Flags NOT required but recommended (per the coast guard)...
stay inside the bay , if you cross the bar your disqualified....
If you have OCD and notice  I missed something important please let me know or ask away as I don't want to make it complicated ,just fun and beneficial for HOW.
Combined heaviest harvest per 3 categories:
1 salmon.....
2 all other fish....
3 Dungeness crabs....

To clarify the placing and scoring...
All of your fish will be weighed in three different categories...
Salmon
All other fish
Dungeness crab.
The guy with the most weight in that single category wins first place for that category. We will have 3 first place ,second place ,and third place winners. You can only place in one category.

Required gear as followed:
1.proper immersion wear for Oregon waters in June.
2.PFD all competitors must wear a CG approved PFD while on the water
3.Have a vhf or fish with someone that does

All competitors must check in with launch volunteer  in the morning before hitting the water as well as check back in when you are off the water even if your not weighing in. All competitors will get a number based on what order your registration was received and that will be your competitors number and how we check in and out, also may be the order the captains meeting goodies I'm trying to line up for captains bags ;)

Rainy day cruising NCKA and planning my summer RV trips.  Wanted to go to Oregon and found this. It sounds great - wouldn't mind making reservations early - I really want to go to Oregon this year. It's been a priority since I got myself retired in February.  I got the truck, got the trailer, and will have a traveling yak in March of next year.  My current yak is too big for the top of my truck. I really mean I'm to old to get it up... on top of the truck. Anyway enough of my BS... Any more info? Let me know when you have some time.  Thanks

There's several good events in oregon.  Vheck out the Bonneville bass bonanza and the oregon rockfish classic. The brownlee crappie tournament in May looks like a hoot and they even have a belt buckle for the winner, coolest trophy ever.

Starting the push for prize donation for this year's tournament as well as enticing some of you warmer water yakaholics into coming up for this year's tournament.

For prize push if anyone has contact info for any shops down there that might be interested in making a donation north of the border to get there name shot around NWKA in Oregon,Washington,Alaska,Idaho, Montana, and Canadia "Aye" shoot me a pm or post them up!

For the enticing part we like to hit the ocean out of Pacific City a day or two before or after tournament, there will be a slight discount at the RV park hosting the event, and the best part .....wait for it.......wait for it....

We hold a big huge potluck dinner afterwards with usually two Treager grills and several crabpot/corn Cobb cookers and if Smilinkayaker comes as planned he's always good for a big old box of fresh Idaho potatoes. As if that's not enough all 100% of the proceeds are going to help kick start the new North Oregon Coast Chapter of Heroes On the Water !!!
http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=17665.0

How can one go wrong with all that???
Ok we will have some super cool prizes as well as bragging rights for 9 lucky 1st-3rd places in three categories.
You gotta love all that! :smt006

And there's usually adult style beverages with a walk back to camp, safety first.

Old mill Rv park and event center. The blue dot is my spot the red dot is the launch it's in the rv park at the old decommissioned boat ramp, no dock but a ramp right into the water.
